Water Works Park

I would place Water Works among my two or three favorite courses. The most striking feature is the hills, of course. They are fun, scenic, and challenging, forcing you to take care when dialing in your throws. While often dramatic, I don't find them so extreme as to make playing or walking the course difficult or uncomfortable (maybe it would be, if the course was very wet or snowy, I don't know). I would place Water Works among my two or three favorite courses. The most striking feature is the hills, of course. They are fun, scenic, and challenging, forcing you to take care when dialing in your throws. While often dramatic, I don't find them so extreme as to make playing or walking the course difficult or uncomfortable (maybe it would be, if the course was very wet or snowy, I don't know).

The layout is superb -- a nice piece of property well used. The holes are close together and flow very well, but each occupies its own space. They have good variety in terms of length and elevation change, making each unique and most very memorable. The course is not overly technical, but neither is it wide open, with lots of mature trees of different kinds guarding the way to the basket. It is not especially long, either, and many of the longer holes play shorter because of the hills (but you have to maintain control and avoid trees to take advantage of them). If you can throw with reasonable accuracy, it's not difficult to make a lot of pars out there, but I have found birdies hard to come by.

The infrastructure is also very good. There are carefully constructed tee areas with good concrete pads and clear hole layout signage. Most also have benches and bag holders. All the holes have 3-4 basket positions for added variety. The overall feel is one of sustained history and good community support.
