Warner Park

This has become the course I play the most, and I really appreciate having it nearby. What makes it unique is the wide variety of holes. None of the nine are anything alike. There are very open holes and very tight ones, long and short. There are steep ups and downs, and more gentle slopes. This has become the course I play the most, and I really appreciate having it nearby. What makes it unique is the wide variety of holes. None of the nine are anything alike. There are very open holes and very tight ones, long and short. There are steep ups and downs, and more gentle slopes. It's not the most challenging course you'll find, but you've got to be on your game because you can get into some serious tree trouble with a throw that's just a little off. This is not a "grip-it-and-rip-it" course: you need to learn the terrain and develop some strategy to minimize your scores.

The hole signs and concrete tee pads are excellent. There is a small shelter with picnic tables and a practice basket. The other amenities are rather sparse -- no water, no restrooms, somewhat limited parking, and a bit of a hike to reach the course. But even though it's right next to a major shopping area, it feels a little wild. I have seen deer, fox, raccoons, and many other critters on the course. A couple of elevated tees provide great views of the course and surrounding area.

Nice variety of shots off the T Pad. #1 and #2 are reminiscent of Down under in KC. When #2 is long, it is hard to par. #3 is wide open but plays longer than 300ft. due to the elevation change. #4 is a great little downhill, open hole that I love! #5 plays to the right out of a tunnel and can be tricky. #6 has two basket placements that keep things interesting. #7 is also uphill but considerably shorter than #3 making it a fun hole to make an ace run on. #8 is also short but trouble is e ...

Notable features of this course include shot variety, alternate pin placements, elevation, and sufficient concrete T-Pads. The course is also well marked by signage.

Course expansion has been talked about for some time and if this ever happens, this course would be a must for any disc golfer in the region.

I get to use a few shots out here that I don't really get to use otherwise around town. There is a good layout without much confusion between holes and although the park is relatively small, even with multiple placements on several holes it is easy to keep your disc out of the middle of someone elses game on a bad drive. Very close to residential area on one side and retail on the other, but it still has a very peaceful feel to it any time of the day. Brand new concrete teepads, and new course sign!

Cons: Although the Fairways are well kept, a misplaced drive in the rough often times seems to dissappear in the tall grass, however the grass is trimmed in the fall and presents no problem for a large part of the year. Although the short hike from the parking lot to the course is nothing for an average person to sweat over, I think a couple steps on the slippery muddy spots would be helpful.
There are also no restrooms on site, so plan accordingly.

Other Thoughts: Although not particularly impressive or anything to write home about, this course is a lot of fun. If you are looking for something to play while passing through town, I would reccomend Warner Park. I always have the most fun here out of any of the local courses.
