Baskets are in! Northern Michigan has a top tier course. Wow is the best I have, the par 4's are simply unreal! This course will make you or break you! Wow is the best I have, the par 4's are simply unreal! This course will make you or break you! You will need a full bag and your tricks for playing the pro tees! Shorts tees are in as well and the looks I had were pretty awesome!
Some of the coolest elevation shots and best lines I have yet to play.
Be prepared to hike and I recommend bring bug spray, good hiking shoes and an Epi-pen if needed. Do not forget your camera either! The layout has taken full advantage of beautiful lake views!
I recommend playing with a partner / spotter
Temp signs are in, baskets for 19 holes are in, almost all the tee's are done. When the permanent signs, benches and tees are done, this is going to be an A+ course!

Don't miss this course. Huge thank you to all the guys up there putting in the hours and work. A course of this magnitude and elevation present additional challenges to the already daunting task of course installation. Between Boyne, Avalanche, Petoskey and the Traverse City offerings, this is a premier disc golf destination.

In it's current state Mt.McSauba is an amazing course. With healthy community support and a chance to grow, it has the potential to be in the top 10 courses in all of michigan.

Pros
- Hole difficulty was up there on nearly all the holes. To score well you need a great shot on almost all the tighter lines here. But a good scramble game can get you the 3 but not likely a 2.
- Views were outstanding. The topography here is nasty. Hiking boots highly recommended.
- Vortex baskets are very nice, even though a couple were mangled at their tops from fallen trees but were still somewhat playable.
-Well defined teeing areas. Some were concrete and some were not but they were still ok.
- Signs were very descriptive and located on almost every hole.
- Navigation was EASY because there are course maps online and a course volunteer handed me a vivid color copy of one when I got there. Also there are arrows everywhere pointing you where to go.

Cons
- Lots of seemingly unnecessary walking but hey thats what you do every time you go disc golfing is walk.
-Lots of walking uphill.

- Some holes could use some work throughout the year but that's just because the winter took some branches down. Not really a con but thats what was bothering me today.
- Sometimes the holes did not flow perfectly into each other. A couple design changes could resolve that and later in the course you feel a bit of frustration after playing simple holes and then working your way back up the hill to play a blind putter hole with rollaway capability at it's maximum.

Overall I liked the course and I think I will be back. It is a lot easier to enjoy your round after you know where to go. The holes I liked most were 1,2,4,9,15. Some holes left a lot to be desired as they are not very well designed. This course is still young and has tons of room to be developed into more and I think it will grow into a great course even if nothing is changed. I enjoyed the challenge each hole presented. It's not the most physically demanding course I've ever played but it requires a bit of hiking from you on occasion. OUTSTANDING VIEWS frequent you on this course. Located only yards from Lake Michigan. Great place!

Wonderful view, beautiful course! Definitely some of my favorite holes on this one. Hole 5 starts at the middle of a hill and works its way to the top. There, you will see a forest at the bottom of the hill and the endless lake right behind. The next hole then goes strait back down the same hill. That is a lot of fun! There are a few long walks to the next holes like 2-3 and 3-4. I highly recommend that you take a picture of the map in the parking lot with you phone so that it doesn't take you t ...

In the summer some holes are closed due to the summer camp that is being run close by. Because of the lake being so close, I usually bring my family there and let them relax wile I go through the beautiful course. If your near Charlevoix or Traverse City check it out. You won't be disappointed.
