How muddy is it right now?
Joe Arnet April 9, 2011 at 1:48pm
Dubs are starting back up this Saturday 4/16/2011. Not officially yet (TBD when that start is) But I'll be out there running the show as usual. Bobby Mac should be holding it down for me today, (4/9) even though I expect the turnout to be pretty darn small what with the Kensington Tourney today.
Cmon out and holler @ us! We still have the 26 hole loop going, most likely going to be mostly longs as we've been playing shorts all winter long.
Normal routine, pick chips for partners, cali flip $5 extra, we vote to decide the format before we head out.

So what's happening this Saturday?
Mike "Disc or Die" Even March 18, 2011 at 12:05pm
Nice suggestive selling Scott ;)
Scott White March 18, 2011 at 11:14am
Yes sadly March 15th ish is the schedule closure of the orange 18.. Same time as last year. November 15th ish is the scheduled re-opening.
Of course you can play the picnic in much more ideal conditions at either Loco Sixo (registration now open) http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Loco_Sixo_2011 or Union Strikes in October when the full 18 is installed for one weekend only.

That's ok though.....No need now to storm the beach, we can take woods. Let's blow it up pirates!!!
Matt "The Spider" Swider March 18, 2011 at 8:41am
First time they've ever pulled Picnic before the ice melted on the lake, but at least it's only the north sides' 10 hole loop and they left south sides' 8 hole loop.

The beach side just got pulled, we found out after the long walk! Gamble center side is still in.
Corey Kieft March 17, 2011 at 4:48pm
When does the Picnic course get pulled?
Mike "Disc or Die" Even March 15, 2011 at 8:19pm
Either the Local 101 or the park has started some maintenance. Nice fresh patch of wood chips between Hole's 3/13 & 4/12. Cheers! White Tee Hole #4, #7 and a few others have potential to become flooded being at the bottom of a hill.
Matt "The Spider" Swider March 11, 2011 at 10:23am
I'll be shoveling pads at Indy at noon, blacks and whites.
Matt "The Spider" Swider March 9, 2011 at 7:55am
I come up Merril to Valentine to Jennings. A little less on the potholes at least, but yeah, Jennings
Joe Arnet March 8, 2011 at 8:10pm
Lol, that is a automatic canned response. If you want to get anything done you need someone's direct email addy or phone #.
And if you think that road is bad I can name 5 more that are way worse. As scott said, there are tons of dirt roads in washtenaw and many get quite F'd up.
Scott White March 8, 2011 at 4:34pm
Nice!
Mike "Disc or Die" Even March 8, 2011 at 3:47pm
Wow...I was surprised to see this response. Hopefully they grade both roads in the next few days!

Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. A Service Request has been entered today and our District Foreman Mike Mastie will investigate.

Nearly half the roads in Washtenaw County are dirt (over 700 miles worth), so in the spring there is always a lot of work for the road commission. I will say that it does eventually get graded every year. Good call on being the 'squeaky wheel' though hopefully that puts Jennings on the top of their priority list. ;)

It's a sad day but we kind of knew it was going to happen. On August 15th Independence Lake Park will break ground in a new waterpark that will take up the area where holes 9,10,11,16 Picnic are currently located. On August 15th Independence Lake Park will break ground in a new waterpark that will take up the area where holes 9,10,11,16 Picnic are currently located. This is essentially the end of the Picnic course as we know it. So this years Loco Sixo will be your last chance to play it in full. The course will remain in the ground until Monday morning May 2nd. They are working on making the orange Mach III baskets the permanent baskets of the Chuck D course. It may require some welding/rework but looks to be a good possibility.
The good news is that the park is thrilled with the addition of disc golf and there are plans to expand it to 24 or 27 holes in the future. They are very happy with the added traffic in the park especially during the colder months when the park is usually empty.
They also made it a point to tell us how cool all of the regulars are out there. So thanks regulars for being cool. Lets keep up the overall atmosphere of respect out there.
