Jon Tveite 55 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "I am still working toward a score on Fairmont I can be satisfied with. I was throwing pretty well today and probably should have come in under par. Tee shot on #1 was just a little right of the fairway, making it tough to get back to the basket. I got a little right of the path on #2 as well, but made a nice anhyzer up shot to save par. After a couple of easy pars, on #5 I hit the overhanging limb, leaving myself a tricky approach into the wind, and I lost my Roc to the left and into a pine, where I couldn't make the putt. #6 was a nice par to the long position. My drive on #7 was a little high but cut through the leaves to about 15' for a birdie. On #9 I dropped it about 10' away for another deuce. #10 cost me a stroke when I hit a limb off the tee and came up short on my approach. #12 was another bogey, due to a mediocre drive and putt from halfway behind the tree. After making birdie at #14, I bogeyed again on #15 thanks to a sloppy approach. I finished with a solid 30-35' birdie putt on #18."

Jon Tveite 57 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "Hot day at Fairmont (98 degrees) and not much breeze to help. I started out with a lovely eight on #1. After that, I was two under for the rest of the course. I just don't like #1 when it's long, and I doubt I ever will. I almost made a par once, but you have to do everything perfectly and if you don't, there is no end to the harm that can be inflicted on your score. #2 was a pretty easy birdie putt from about 20' short and right of the basket. On #3, I was about 40' left and short, and had a near-miss for birdie. #4 was a bad tee shot and a bad approach, so no excuses there. On #6 I had a pretty nice drive that ended up on the wrong side of a tree in between the two short placements, which made an approach back to the long position almost hopeless. #11, I had a pretty good drive with my new Blizzard Katana (replacing the one I lost in Perry) and made a birdie putt from about 40' out. On #14 I hit the base of the tree in front of the short basket placement, and had an easy putt for birdie. I ended with my best tee shot of the day on #18, where I parked my Stalker. All in all, a pretty good round -- if I could just figure out my nemesis, #1."

Jon Tveite 60 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "#1 was long, so a six is annoying and discouraging, but not too surprising. I still have no viable strategy for that hole. I know I am capable of throwing well enough to make a four, at least, but I have only done that once or twice, and it seems the bad history just messes with my head 95% of the time. I came back with an easy birdie on #2, which was in the short placement. So really, my problem with this round was a streak of four bogeys on six holes, most of which are birdie opportunities. I find that is often the case at Fairmont: sure, I have a disaster once in a while, but what kills me is the tee shots that aren't THAT bad, but land in disproportionately bad places and end up costing me a stroke here and there. The difference between a great tee shot and a horrible tee shot on #7, for example, is just a couple of feet (as with #s 2, 6, 8, and 9). On #11 I just threw it 120' right of the basket into the treeline, which I do a lot for some reason (probably because it's one of the few open tee shots on the course, and I always want to kill it for a birdie). #12 I actually had a good tee shot, but my approach ended up behind the big tree and I missed the straddle putt. #14 was a weak tee shot saved by a long putt for birdie. On #17 I threw it over the road (which I also do a lot, probably for the same reason I screw up #11). In other words, it was just a typically frustrating round for me a Fairmont, where I can play relatively well and still shoot +5-6 for no particularly good reason."

Dustin Harrison 58 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "nice morning round, a little wind from time to time but not over 10mph, the grass was wet and there was setting water on some holes from the rain. Missed quite a few birdie opportunities that would have helped my score and had only a couple drives that i messed up on, almost aced hole #8 with my suspect that i flicked"

Dustin Harrison 54 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "beautiful morning round before work. I was making pretty decent drives and making most of my putts. No wind at all but had morning dew on the grass so it was kinda wet, other than that, loving the new signs and all 18 holes having concrete tee pads"

Jon Tveite 55 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "This was a pretty good round, except for a couple of costly screw-ups. When the first two holes are both long, about the best I can hope for is +1 or +2. After that I played the front nine well, with the exception of #6, which was also long, and I was lucky to make four. #7 was a drop-in birdie, and the other two birds were pretty easy after good tee shots. I also played the back nine pretty well, except for banging my tee shot off a tree and OB on #12, and missing an easy par putt on #13. I just can't afford any lapse in concentration on this course. Even a slightly misdirected shot can put you in a horrible place. I ended well with a drop-in birdie on #14, and a 35-40' putt for deuce on #18."

Jon Tveite 58 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "Encouraged by one decent round, and with plenty of daylight left, I decided to try again. This round was shakier and more frustrating, though I continued to play pretty well. Just missed a putt for my first par on long #1, but had to fight for a bogey on #2 again. Should have made another birdie on #3, but it skipped into those bushes left of the basket and I let that bother me into missing the short putt. My jump putt on #5 disappeared into the woods and cost me another bogey. On #7, I wound up under the vine-covered tree, and a nice recovery skipped back into some thick stuff, leading to yet another short putt missed because of foliage. On #8 I caught a tree off the tee and couldn't get it up and down from the road. In other words, I had a lot of the kind of Fairmont moments that make me nuts: shots that aren't that bad -- or even pretty good -- leading to bad outcomes. Made a long putt from near the road for birdie on #9, and followed that up with a 20-footer for deuce from behind the basket on #10. But I could only manage one more birdie after that (#14), and I made a couple bogeys as well."

Jon Tveite 56 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "#1 is still deep, so a five is to be expected. After that, I was even par, so I guess that's one of my better rounds out there. Only managed a couple of drop-in birdies: should have had at least 1-2 more (e.g. #9), but my putting was a little off. Most of my drives were decent, but a couple hit trees too soon and led to the bogeys (along with a couple of putts I should have made). My best efforts were on holes like #11 & 12, where I made pars despite drives that were a bit off the mark. Just a solid, boring round without much to talk about."

Robert Adams 47 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "Tied my personal record for Fairmont. I know this is a great score by any stretch of the imagination, but I felt like I was struggling the entire round. Chained out putt on #1. Hit basket low on #'s 3, 5, 7, and 11. I can't help but think what the score COULD'VE been."

Jon Tveite 59 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "As long as the first two holes are in their longest positions, it seems I can count on being 2-4 strokes over to start with. #4 continues to give me problems for no particularly good reason. I had a nice flick to the right position on #6 for a drop-in birdie, but then followed that up by throwing my tee shot on #7 into the tree in front of the pad, for a bogey. I missed 20-footers for birdie on 9 & 10, and about a 35-footer on #11. Made a customary bogey on #12, and botched my drive and tree-line recovery on #17, but got that stroke back on #18 with a good tee shot to about 20' on #18. So, better than yesterday, but should have been better yet."

Jon Tveite 61 - Regular tees, mixed pins, 18 holes "Just an all-around mediocre round on a nice spring evening. I hit a lot of trees off the tee, and wasn't sharp with approaches, either. With the putters, it seemed like I was just missing everything -- a 20-footer, an 80-footer, and everything in-between. It was the streak of four bogeys in five holes (9-13) that really killed me."
