This course is in an idea location because it will really expose the sport of disc golf to thousands of commuters daily in one of Ohio's most populated counties. If you're in the Cleveland area and enjoy the game of disc golf be sure to set aside a couple of hours to play this southwest suburban course. I am sure it will make for a memorable round.

Front Nine:

Where to park can be your first challenge at this course, head to the north end of the campus and look for parking lot "D" (for Disc Golf) where you'll find a practice basket up on a knoll.

Your 2nd challenge may be finding the first tee area located south and a glance west from the parking lot. The best advice I can give you without a map on hand is to just complete each hole and continue south, look for 6"x6" aqua-colored tee posts 6 foot high with a hole number stenciled in white paint. I see why others that review courses often suggest scorecards with maps or show appreciation for courses and/or course promoters that provide this.

The front nine played as a grip it and rip it style course without a whole lot of shot shaping challenge except for maybe holes 3 and 5. So if your game favors a huge drive, this one is for you. Wind also plays a factor on this course given that it is more wide open and flat compared to its crosstown rival Veterans Memorial Park which is wooded with lots of elevation.

Whatever tricks one has for staying cool, bring them; there is not much shade on the front nine. Consider attaching a folding seat to your bag for tournament play, as there are no benches to rest on after the long walks between holes.

Can you throw long rollers? College campus disc golf courses seem to be idea and this one is no exception, given the fact that their grounds crews are on top of mowing with fairways that are well manicured and green. There was not one hint of litter anywhere providing an even higher level of enjoyment since there was no mistaking a disc for an old crumpled subway cup or a paper plate. The course felt safe with campus security present. Busy college students driving their vehicles, birds chirping, a distant siren and the occasional burst of air hissing from a public transportation bus are just an earful of sounds you may here in this otherwise quiet and peaceful city track.

The course seemed to be in its early stage and maybe some large rubber mats, target numbering, a few benches and a bulletin board with a map and/or scorecards could be helpful but not necessary to enjoy a round of golf at The Tri-C campus.

One last interesting tidbit about this course is that there is a Disc golf store across the street from Hole 5's basket on the backside of the plaza in the southwest corner. Unfortunately it was closed the day I visited but there is a phone number on the window to call for any questions.

Back Nine:

Ran out of time to play more holes this day, but I will definitely go back to play again and I look forward to making an addendum to this review.

Pros
- Plenty of parking

- Natural tees are in good shape
- The course sheds water well and dries quickly
- New baskets in excellent condition
- I’ve only played this course during a tournament on the weekend and by myself on Sundays and this course is really not busy at all. Great place to go to get in a relaxing few throws and enjoy a mellow Sunday.
- Very clean course with great upkeep. I don’t recall seeing trashcans but I know they are there someplace if needed.
- Even though most of this course is open, Holes #3, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 9 will have you going under or around obstacles to get to the basket. You may want to take extra precaution around the light poles at Holes #8 & 9. All of these different obstacles may make you plan your shots differently the first few times you play the course and maybe try riskier throws to get to the basket.
- According to the map as of 08/25/11 the blue tees are over 4200’. That is Amazing for a 9 hole course!

Cons
- Most of the course has a very open and flat landscape
- You may not want to use this course during any peak hours. I only try to play here on the weekends. Don’t want to hit a professor with an errant drive ::wink::
- The flow is ... hmm. Hole #1 starts at the Northwest corner near the parking lot and Hole #9 ends about 200’ from the parking lot which is nice. Note that you can more easily access this course starting at Hole #7. The tee for #7 is right by the parking lot and Hole #6 ends right next to the parking lot. The overall flow is a by sporadic at times with a few long walks in between holes, especially from Hole #3 to #4 and Hole #5 to #6. But I can see how someone that knows more than I might be able to easily add 9 more holes and really fill in the gaps. I realize that this takes a lot of money but as of now the flow is more of a Con than a Pro. This could easily change in the future.
- Due to the flow, the course would be tricky to navigate without a map for your first time. Could use some more next tee markers

Other Thoughts
- #9 could be a bit dangerous. This hole crosses sidewalks and has a parking lot to the left and a building to the right. I won’t list this as a con because the available land was used well. Just use some extra caution here.
- Even though you don’t need an arsenal of different shots to play this course there are a few holes that mix it up some. Most notably is Hole #4 which flows through a tight gap, down a small hill and around a corner to a very blind basket. Very fun hole and it is also the most challenging on the course.
- My favorite hole is #3. I like the tee placement on this hole. There is a gap that you can hit between two trees using a comfortable RHBH hyzer. The basket on this hole is just in a fantastic spot and it really adds a bit of difficulty as it is up close, behind and kind of in between two pine trees. Land your drive in front or just inside the pine trees and you may have a stroke added to your score.
- This course by itself is not a course that you would want to travel far to get to, but it is an excellent addition to the area. Especially when you combine it with the heavily wooded Parma DGC @ Veterans’ Memorial Park which is close by. I’d like to give a HUGE thanks to everyone that worked so hard to get this course together. I know that there are more plans for this course in the future and I will be sure to get out there and play it and update this review. The course has good potential. With 18 holes and concrete tees this would easily be pushing a 4 out 5 star course.

now that i've played both sets of tees, i feel i can review this course. i must honestly say that this may be my favorite natural tee course i've played. it has a nice mix of shots, utilizing the land on the campus very nicely. there is a good mix of distance and technical, especially if you play the concrete areas (paths, streets) as ob. it almost reminds me of the latter part of the course at sims, with some open fairways with strategically placed trees along the way.

the long tees are a bear to say the least, where distance is key. the short tees still bring the "d" into play, but add a nice element of technical shots and placement shots that make you stay on your game. the main downside to this course is the tees. albeit they aren't bad, but concrete will always be my preference. the layout can also be confusing without a map, but that seems to be a common theme on any course. the long tees are marked with huge stakes with teal-colored number tips, and some have maps draw right on the stakes, making it easier to know where you are throwing, as the baskets are not numbered. the short tees are currently marked with flags, as they are prepping for some tourneys at the course in the coming weeks. i'd like to see some permanent marking for the shorts, as it is quite a fun layout to play. a few of the holes play close to the buildings, and on busy days i could see that causing some delays as you may have to wait for students to pass.

if this course was to get some concrete tee pads and number signage for the baskets, it would be a definite B+ to A- course.
