Great new layout. Plenty of risk/reward on every hole.

In 2010, the powers that control the course at Buffumville Dam decided to turn the existing 27 hole course into an 18-hole course and a short course frequently referred to as the 'mini 9'. While the new 18-hole course is better then many courses you'll see, it's a significant step down from the 27-hole course. A majority of it is unplayable in spring. The remnants of the old 27-hole course have been condensed into a 9-hole course which plays primarily through the woods. Holes 1 + 2 are halves of #1 on the 18-hole course. Hole #3 is the first half of #2 on the long course, and from there the two courses diverge.
Much more of a pleasant course for non-pros than the long course; shot placement is favored over distance. One con for people who haven't played it before- the course hasn't been labeled since it was converted to the mini 9 in 2010, so all of the tees have the wrong numbers on them.

A fun, long, challenging dam course. I like the nine hole short layout that allows for those wanting a quick fix to have it without impacting those on the long layout too much.
