I was really let down after going to Center Chains (a C course listed as an A-...so much promise). It could not have been more different when I went to Black Falls! Let me start from the beginning...The course was a little over an hour away up a 1.5 car dirt road on the side of a mountain. The GPS got us as far as it could before losing phone signal but we quickly came upon large wooden signs on the road for the courses. We weren't sure where to start but we ran into the owners of the courses and were quickly put on track. We decided on the shorter course due to time but were not disappointed in the least. First shot sits next to his house and a small pond. He has a balcony looking down the hill at his first hole that I can only hope they shoot from. The T pads are not concrete but are packed crushed limestone(?) that play really nice. Two pads and baskets with nice homemade signs. Let me say that they take immaculate care of this course. It is very very well planned and does not favor any one shot. There are foot bridges and tree stump paths for soggy parts; they really did think of everything. Owner played back nine with us and then opened his small pro shop for us to look at discs. Apparently he did the re-design for Smugs. Must Play in VT! Must fill up on the natural spring water that the owner showed us! Must bring bug spray in summer! This is up there with the greats around me...Hudson Mills, Kensington etc...

In my opinion this is the only course I have ever played that rivals Flip City. Kensington is #2 ? IdleWild? No way! This course is the second best course in the world. We played when it was pouring rain out and still managed to have a great time even though we were drenched. There are two tees and two baskets for each hole making for a variety of 72 different shots! I lived in the NEK of Vermont for the summer and was lucky enough to make quite a few discing friends. I played at four different private courses (not listed on this site) that were all fantastic and easily A rated courses. This course was about 1.5 hours from where I was living and it was well worth the drive. I guess the owners sister has another course not to far from this one. I plan on going back to vermont in the fall to play on my friends courses, this course and his sisters course. If you are in Vermont you HAVE to play this course!
