This is destined to be one of the "must play" courses in Michigan. Defining features of this heavily-wooded, tight course, situated between two campgrounds on the Muskegon River just north of the Hardy dam include: two distinctly different courses (blue tees at nearly 6,000', red tees at 4,000')--each equally challenging and fun to play, a design that allows for campers at either location to play nine back to their starting location, restrooms and vending conveniently located on each 9-hole swin ...

Big Bend Park is a heavily wooded course with very demanding fairways. There are some alternate pin placements on some holes that are going up against a 50 foot cliff and water (Hardy Dam Pond) behind it. Fun shots through the woods that make you pull different shots and discs from your bag of tricks. Hole 16 is a beast of a hole 606 feet (minimum) through lines of pine trees. You will hit trees on this course, so the mental game is also very important here as well. Dr Johnson has another great layout and design here. Remember your bug spray and water for sure.

This course had the promise of becoming a great course but now is slowly becoming a "lost" course. Huge overgrowth on some of the hardest holes along with fallen trees that have been in the fairways for over 2 seasons now. I hope the park steps it up and starts taking care of this course

Man, was this course beautiful! But with it's beauty came some of the hardest holes I've played. Two holes that stuck out were "The Big Bend" which was a massive 90 degree fairway that totaled about 650ft. Also "The Cathedral" (Hole16) which measured around 700 ft. 20 ft. wide dead straight fairway with tall pine trees lining the whole line. Amazing course to help you become a better golfer!

Great course. Super challenging, long, tight fairways, brutal rough & solid pin placements. Layout flows very well, tee pads need work but course is still new. The signage at the course is garbage. Accurate hole description but the distances were all way off, but they were corrected relatively recently I believe. This is definitely a shot makers course. You have to capitalize on the deuces that are there because there are not too many of them. Also challenging for upshots, lots of trees means yo ...

This course does have potential. It has great lines and idntough as hell. All wooded with tight fairways. Lots of placement shots. Couple holes (16 for example) is 600ft and a narrow line of trees. Longs have cement pads. They were completely covered in pine needles. Under that they were slimy and slippery. What was really unfortunate was it seemed like the lines were cut out years ago and all the cut limbs and what not are littered all over the course. It looks like a tornado went through each ...

This course is fair and challenging with some nice elevation change and beautiful lines through the woods. Bring your A game or the cathedral will eat you alive!

Very tough course. Cathedral hole is unique but extremely challenging. $5 to play also a bummer for a cheapo like me

Very awesome course great layout. Doubles back to parking lot after 9. Awesome "Cathedral".... and tee pads big enough to build a shed on. Great views.

I'm going to give this one an A. Not my type of course...super super long, that said, the design is brilliant. Good elevation holes, couple short duece opportunities, beautiful views of the river. The cathedral hole is the signature. Maintenance is non existent, which is unfortunate. Great course nonetheless.

People don't give this course enough credit. Very tight and technical, does need some clean up but it is a great course.
