This is a course like no other; it was a great time yesterday. I met some great people and reconnected with some familiar faces from past Disc golf outings. Great job Discoholics! The course was made for the best to come out and shine, it demands the best shots, it is physically challenging, and finally the location is Magnificent. With all that said, realize this is a brand new course, it will only get better. Can't wait to play it again, spring time will be excellent.

Very challenging course. Extreme elevation changes. Easy to lose a disc off the fairways. Watch your footing with all the stumps and rocks. This course , nesteled in the forrest area of a nice county park, has the potential to be one of Michigans gems. Big thanks to the discaholics & all who helped.

This course is just plan awesome. The hills are sharp, fast, and numerous creating a unique experience. The trees force you to develop new shots in your arsenal. Think you like to play all backhand, this course will force you to throw forehand. Traversing this bad baby is quite rigorous. Not a good choice for carts and strollers though.

very nice course in the very early stages too so once the lanes open that will lead to awesome rounds. hilly and a little dangerous due to terrain and trees but if that don't excite you you are not a michigander. a must play and as bonus only a few miles from fallasberg

Tough course w/ lots of elevation. Some pads seem short and the big rocks around the pad are kinda sketchy on a couple holes. Dead limbs on some holes need to go.

This will be one of the most physical courses you will ever play. Steep grades and tight but fair lines will test your whole game. Good footwear is a must. Not to friendly for carts. Walk carefully as some stumps and rocks may trip you up. PLEASE KEEP THIS COURSE CLEAN!!!!!! It runs thru a beautiful woods, so please leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but birdies. Enjoy

Pros: Hilly and wooded. No open bomber shots, pretty much all technical but def some distance too. Many holes have interesting pin placements that make you shoot for par and not want to go for birdie. Has an even amount of left and right holes. The course has promise to be great in the future. The signage was probably the best ive seen. Seeing the elevation change on the sign was really cool. I never felt lost, the tee signs showed where the next tee was and the baskets usually had some bl ...

Pros: Very beautiful park with great views and rustic terrain. Easy to find and cheap to play. Great land plot for a disc golf course. Equal amounts of righty lefty holes The design of the course was good, I felt they used the land well and I never felt lost or had no idea where the next pad was. LOTS OF POTENTIAL. Cons: Tee pads were short and dangerous. Hardly any lines. Lots of throw and hope holes witch involve more luck than skill. Some of the pars were a little questionable in my ...

Disappointing. I know it is new, but when Fallasburg opened it felt worlds better to me. Be prepared to hike a LOT. So many stray rocks everywhere make it extremely easy to roll an ankle. The teepads are too short. Need more lines to avoid that forced feel it currently has. Definitely potential. but I feel its quite a ways out.

The new course in Ionia. Lots of elevation, lots of blind shots, hardly any lines to the basket whatsoever. Close your eyes, throw, and hope. Could definitely benefit by having those long flags on top of the baskets so you dont have to run up on every hole to see where the basket is.

Very technical and mentally challenging, excellent use of land and elevation, excellent signage. This course will wear very well and will be a solid 'A' with better pads and a little more breaking in. Not everyone has enough foresight to recognize this, don't let the terrible ratings of a couple brainless individuals dissuade you from playing this course.

First, let me say "don't forget your bug spray". My spray bottle was empty, forcing us off the coarse after 9-holes. For the disc pro, this is probably a pretty good coarse. For the family goer, this is not friendly. The elevation for a little guy is too much. The pin placement is a bit ridiculous for a junior as well. Some jerk also turned arrow sings around so we couldn't find the next hole. For a family outing, D-. For the skill player, much more fun.

This is a great layout for a course. If you are looking for a course with lots of elevation changes this is the one for you. One problem that I see is the continual care of the fairways will be difficult , no mowers here , all weedwackers . So in turn it is getting incredibly overgrown. Many holes there is no fairway or defined rought other holes there is a clear line. The signage is good although the tee signs are suffering from moisture . This is also a very nice park with other activities and ...

So it dosn't have concrete tees and the signs are poor cos of not being weatherproof so what from start to finish this course has tight wooded ( mostly pines but some hardwood trees to ) and insane elivation . Interesting shot selection and it doesn't let up at all !!! Bertha is beautiful and hard as hell !!

Every hole has elevation changes through heavy woods. Course is easy to follow (even without a map) and the teesigns show distance and direction. No excessively long holes. Three par 4's, although #18, a par 3, was as tough as any of them. Pick a line and hit it. This course is a hidden diamond!

Birtha Brock has some amazing woods with extreme elevation changes and doglegs. It is still getting beat in, but overall a fun course, as long as your not paying attention to the score. Remember to bring plenty of water and bug spray (manditory) as the insect will eat you alive otherwise.

i give this course a c only because of its incredible potential. Bertha could be amazing if there was a lot of work done on it. Courses need fairways and Bertha has maybe 2. It is very hard yes, and if that was the sole intent then the creators succeded. However I think a course needs to have clearly defined fairways that are navigable. You dont see whole holes in ball golf made of rough or greens the size of a medicine ball do you? I dont mean to put down bertha because it has a great deal of ...

Just played this course for the first time today! Absolutely loved it! Be ready for a work out though because you're continually going up and down hills through the woods. Very nice layout and use of land. It's too bad people have to break the signs. The only other con about this course are the carpet pads. Concrete tee pads would be nice! You'll end up using every disc and trick in the bag at this course. Wear hiking boots too!

This course will easily become an A or better as Chain Out continues to complete what the course should have been. I commend them for finishing a project that was otherwise abandoned. Few more trees and an eventual teepad upgrade and it's going to be tough to find a course that tests every golf shot there is better than Bertha.

The challenges of this course daunting to say the least, the tight seemingly impossible lines on a majority of the holes challenge your mental game on every level. If that wasn't enough the terrain and elevation changes challenge your physical game to its limits. The course was clean and there were signs of maintenance that had been recently done. The tee pads could use some improvement, but each has great signage showing the layout and elevation changes. I don't mind the turf pads but they shou ...

Are the fairways narrow? Yes. Are there some holes that look impossible? Yes. But after playing there on a cold, rainy, windy day I can tell you my game improved significantly. It's a course that actually rewards smart play. Missing your line by just a little bit can send a disc crashing off of a tree or down a steep slope. Players who can take a little bit off of their shot and put it towards accuracy will be handsomely rewarded. A great course to get better on with some really cool regulars.

Turf Teepads in desperate need of attention, fairways need more landscaping, some holes don’t have a legit line to follow, not cart friendly, benches are old and need upkeep, very heavy amount of bugs, campground style restrooms. The land is pretty, and the elevation is fun, but doesn’t outweigh the cons.

I thought I was in West Virginia this course will make your eyes water. I took a loaded heavy backpack cart thru it, I was lucky it was dry ground. I Don't recommend cart use. Many long steep vertical drops and steep rises, ridges and gorges not to mention very tight heavy woods! What a gem of a course !
Great job with design signage and layout !

A course with extreme pros and cons. Scenic heavily wooded, technical, very challenging and pronounced elevation changes. Decent tee signs with next tee directional purple tape on ChainStar baskets. However, there are some poke and hope holes with no clear lines or fairways. There’s no paths leading to a few holes. The turf pads have seen better days. Downed trees on the course. Overall difficult navigation. Still a fun course, plan on an exhausting hike.
