As you cut into the rough areas, you may uncover a few discs that survive the blades. Where some dredging occurs near the walking bridge, more discs would surface. Those prodigal plastic projectiles would be welcomed.

Update from yesterday:
Most of the fairways have been mowed as of Monday 6/30. All pads are marked.
18 and 2 fairways are rutted out from heavy equipment the state used this spring and the plan is to lay down woodchips there.
If I had to guess, it's still rough but much more playable than this past weekend.
Latest Course Map is uploaded here
Kick ass! I'd love to play it sometime next week after work if you have time.
Scott White June 30, 2014 at 7:21am
Not quite ready to play yet, but there is a lot of work scheduled for tomorrow - Monday.

Any updates on course?! Are are the holes in? If so is this easy to navigate?
Thanks Ken It's been our pleasure and luck to be able to get this course on Belle Isle and we WELCOME all to the island.
Another quick word of thanks to ALL involved. I know the hoops and red tape had to be enormous. Having played this course a couple times, it will be a fantastic additon to the Metro area golf scene. It's crown jewel in fact. Hope to see you all out there on the 12th. Please pass this message along to all those having put in so much time to make this happen.( I don't do facebook)
Definately thanks for all the hard work getting this city course open. Gonna check it out this week on the way home.

Hey guys (and gals),
we felt a quick update would help quell some of the rumors and talk happening about the course. We ARE slated to open and very soon. The course DOES exist and has since last season, however there are still things like tee boxes in the works. Working with the state of Michigan and the DNR has been a great experience, albeit one that takes times. Once we get the legal things done and out of the way we still have some work to be done on the course. Our goal is to get pe ...

Thanks Nick. Please continue to update us on the scene. In particular, for work efforts and opportunities to volunteer to help. Also, can you pass along the facebook group. I have a couple golfer who do the facebook thing, that are having trouble finding info.

Is it permissible to play this course yet? I drove by this saturday and I saw one gate open past hole 1. A section of the fence near hole 1 is gone as well. Last I heard the course wasn't insured therefore wasn't legal to play.
Thanks for the info Nick! Where should interested players watch/look for more information?
This site for sure, and Facebook. www.Facebook.com/Detroitdiscgolf. Once it's ready to go we'll be throwing a tournament and doing a media blitz to some extent.

Got a few work days this upcoming weekend - Saturday and Sunday both kicking off at 10am. Bring yourself and your tools down to the Isle for some good ole fashioned cuttin & wackin! More details on Detroit Disc Golf on FB
Course proposal with the DNR is gaining steam. Hopefully there is an announcement of some magnitude in the near future. Cheers All

This is an optimist asking - can I get a "fuzzy" projection for any tournaments this year? My planning reaches far, but I want to be flexible so that I can get my Detroit on.
I don't worry much about "concrete" dates. Dirt tees are OK for now. (pun intended) If you have hopes for something 6 weeks from now, that bodes well for my hope to find a repeat of the 2013 late season PDGA sanctioned event(s). I will also be looking for notice of earlier opportunities including weekend league play times. Throw well.
We've been posting updates on FB, but not as often here. I'll be sure to change that since as you stated there's a ton of interest and The Scene is disc hq for a lot of us.

Any chance the state is going to open up the course this summer?
Thanks, Scott. I wanted to make sure we are properly represented. There's a meeting today. Expect news soon.
Meet was moved but things look good now that the state has taking over the island. Going to be a great season for this course!
You guys continue to rock the free world. Please holler if you need any help.

Hey Scott, where is my score from this? I see the record was set by Hoppe but I had the lowest round of the day! :)

If anyone goes fishing, I lost a yellow star teebird on hole 5. Hit the far side of the bank and rolled in the water. # on the rim.

This Sunday Nov. 3rd will be the last chance to join us this year on the Belle Isle DGC! http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Belle_Isle_Fall_Final_2013
I'll be there, or I'll have my area calculated: y height (y width)

The Belle Isle Disc Golf Course has been a lot of hard work on the property all volunteered and thank you to everyone who has been down there on the course working with us. I appreciate it very much as do most of our local disc golf community. The fact is Detroit City is what it is and we all knew that after everything we spend and sacrifice on for disc golf on belle isle it might not stick. We have always been given permission by who is required to give it to us to do everything from cutting th ... more
You work and intentions are above reproach. I too hope all can understand the vastness of this undertaking. Patience and understanding are the only options available and I think all involved have done nothing but exercise them in volumes. Please accept this as a vote of support and appreciation for all the work toward making this dream a reality.
Few, if any, things do not have sport as the key to meaningful success and failure. This goes for generals and chefs and all who wish to learn from their struggle. It is the piece that reconciles the competition / cooperation polemic. You will succeed because you touch the sporting instinct that is present everywhere.

Is this course even open or just for the tourney on Nov. 3rd?
All leads back to facebook, not really into that. Thank you Paul. I guess I will just show up and see.
Hey Steve sorry this pre reg page hasn't been set up yet. We just got confirmation by the park a couple days ago. Come Play Detroit from Detroit is actually hosting this event so they want the pre-registrations. Normally I would take them here but it's not coming to me. You can register on ... more

is the course now open ?

No. With the state persumably taking over, and the EMF, we are sorta in a holding pattern. We are doing our best to keep things updated. Stay tuned on here or on the Facebook.

Good luck on the newest "sea change": the lease to the State. Change can be opportunity.
It is hopeful to note that people could speak about disc golf on the island, even as so many other strident voices of change and resistance were competing. Discgolf advocates should be viewed as models of diplomacy useful to the next conversations about the future of the island. Do not hesitate to c ... more
Thanks Fred for all your positivity! We have been in touch with the state and they sound like they will be a big help to us and the course. What was said about the golf course was only speculations set out by the media using the property as an example without knowing that we are already in talks with the state about the disc golf course.
Press rarely gets it 100%. btw- Mackinaw ctr. has video on web re: turning Belle Isle into private soverign state where Detroit gets to have crumbs that roll off their banquet tables.
