Course Improvements - Call to action

I spoke today with Nick Gaugler, founder of the Memorial Park course. While he has some abilities to assist with improvements, he's agreed that others can carry on as needed. He will be communicating to me how much is in the Wadsworth Disc Golf fund. To that, I have $500 from the first two Ace Races. I would like to see who is able to contribute to course improvements, starting perhaps as early as next weekend with getting the Bulletin Board in working order, and finishing the steps on hole 1.

Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!

Ace Race Update

OK, so as usual, I'm a bit late on things, but no matter, we should set up for a good race this year. The discs this year are in Z plastic, and they're describing it as a small-rim driver, similar to Avenger SS but with more distance.

This is year #3 in a row for a driver being showcased. This means the layout this year will be similar to the first two. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I will be looking into prospects of course improvements as well leading into this year ... more

2014 Discraft Ace Race - REGISTRATION OPENING

Online Registration for the 3rd Annual Wadsworth Discraft Ace Race has been configured, and is set to open in the next day or two. Sorry for the delay...Discraft was indicating the possibility of upping the cost to $30, and I didn't want to get caught up in dealing with the potential discrepancy.

We had nearly 70 participants last year, raising $425 ($500 between the two races to date) for Wadsworth Disc Golf. This money is not yet applied to improvements, but it is hoped that this wil ... more

Alright, let's get moving - SCRAMBLES AND EXPANSION

Nick Gaugler, Wadsworth Disc Golf founder/president, and I met with Harry Stark of the City of Wadsworth this past Friday. With a reaffirmed understanding and support, coupled with the success of the Ace Race, the following is expected to occur:

1. From Mid-September to Mid November, a weekly scramble will be held, similar in format to other area courses in the way they are run. This is open to anyone, and we will make an effort to let every team be competitive each week. See more details ... more

2nd Annual Wadsworth Discraft Ace Race - PRELIM REPORT

Thanks to all who came out for the Ace Race. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and in total we raised $425 for Wadsworth Disc Golf, bringing our 2-year event raising total to $500. And everyone walked away with some way cool gear! This will not be an event to miss next year.

I'm sorry about the delays in final reporting of aces, etc, as I've been very busy; it will come very soon, I promise!

And thanks to all who either helped, donated equipment, or donated winnings from side games for the club. Look at the next post for what this all means!

New Tees being developed

Many of you may know by now that efforts are being made to finalize an 18-hole layout at Memorial Park. In the existing 9-hole layout, there are efforts to put in multiple tees for each hole, and can be identified to some degree already. The longs for holes 1, 2, 5, and 6 in particular are shaping up to be pretty tasty, and we hope to have them better marked soon:

* Hole 1's long tee is going to be closer to the parking lot, and about 40 feet left of the original (short) tee, shooting ... more

Welcome to Wadsworth Disc Golf

I will be using this club site to better connect on DGScene the events that pertain to Wadsworth Disc Golf between Facebook and here.

News specific to Wadsworth's course in Memorial Park will be broadcast from here as well. So, connect to this site, and you'll get the latest on the evolution of the VMDGC into a permanent, 18-hole course that we hope will be ultimately considered a worthy "destination course".
