Work Party Saturday, January 9th - 9 a.m.

Jason & Steve will be at Leverich at 9 a.m. to install a couple garbage cans and build a tee pad for hole 12. If we get enough help we would also like to do a little maintenance on the "stairs" from 5 to 6.

If you can come out be at the upper parking lot at 9 a.m. with your gloves. Plan for a BBQ lunch or burgers at DQ depending on how many people show up. Jason will run a mini-tournament at 1 p.m.
New Garbage Baskets Ordered
Thanks to the Fall League players at Leverich Park we have purchased and are awaiting delivery of a couple new garbage baskets to be place ON the course. This is a trial situation as we will have to see how much having baskets handy will help to keep the litter off the course.

The parks department has told us that they are considering pulling ALL garbage cans from the parks in Clark County and going with a pack it in/pack it out policy. This would mean that our baskets would be the only baskets in a park, and that might be a bad thing. So we will keep a close eye on how the new baskets help or hinder the amount of litter at the park.

Once the baskets arrive I plan to schedule a work day to install them and do some other maintenance around the park to help us get through the winter. Hopefully we can do another "temporary" tee pad on hole 12 like we did on hole 7 that day. I'm also considering installing a couple of new anchors to give alternate basket locations on a few holes.

Finally, the Parks Foundation is in the process of sending out sponsorship letters to our 2009 hole sponsors asking them for their 2010 donation. If any of our current sponsors don't renew we may have room to add a couple of new sponsors for 2010. If you know of a business that might be interested in sponsoring a hole at the course feel free to drop me a line.

Daybreak Meeting Tomorrow - Tuesday Dec. 18
Next public meeting

December 8 at 7 p.m.

Daybreak Primary and Middle School Commons
1900 NW 20th Avenue, Battle Ground

I called today to talk with my Parks Rep. and this meeting is basically an informational meeting with another in person/online survey to follow. The two most requested uses for the park are (no surprises here) equestrian facilities and disc golf (thanks to our online friends).

I am NOT able to make this meeting as I have a prior committment. It would be great if we can get a couple people there to represent the disc golfers in Clark County. PM me or e-mail me if you can make it.
Daybreak Park Survey
Please take a moment and fill out a survey on the park. The more that fill it out the better!

Next Up ... Lower Daybreak Park.
The Clark County Legacy Lands Program and Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation are developing a master plan for Lower Daybreak Regional Park. The parks department has expressed a desire to create a disc golf course at this park. They have asked for representatives from the disc golf community to come to their planning meetings.

First Meeting is October 14 at 7 p.m. Daybreak Primary and Middle School Commons
1900 NW 20th Avenue, Battle Ground.

If you are at all interested in helping develop a tournament level course near Battle Ground please consider attending this meeting!

The park is 112 acres which means there is plenty of room for at least a couple of 18 hole tournament grade courses. The park is located just 15 minutes from the Oregon border.
Leverich Park is Completed
The course is in, and except for a few finishing touches, 100% ready to be played. Thanks to the more than 50 people that came out and helped this course a reality!

For details on the course checkout the Vancouver/Clark Disc Golf web site at http://vcdg.org
Leverich Park Approved
I just received word that the disc golf course at Leverich Park has been approved. Our next steps are to meet with the maintenance supervisor for the park and iron out details, raise some funds and then install the course. More details coming soon. Contact me if you would like to help with this new course!
Leverich Park Update
Monday, August 25th several volunteers created up a temporary course at Leverich park at the request of the parks department. We identified 18 distinct holes that could be created at the park, however, only 12-15 of those could be used at any one time in a permanent course layout. We are now submitting our design to the parks department for them to get approved by the community development committee. There are even rumors of matching funds from the parks department or city to help build the course.
