Does anyone have any news on the proposed DG course in Rose Park? Markus told me the county allotted $10k for a temp course to be in by November, but obviously those plans have changed.

Saturday I talked to some golfers playing there. They said 25 years ago the par 3 section south of the main golf course was a DG course, and the county met in September to discuss plans for returning it to DG. The county's meeting agenda said the representative for the new course is Dan Roper. Anyone know more about this or how to contact Dan?

David, the return of the DG course at Jordan River Parkway in Rose Park will take place very soon. The city did provide a 10k grant that was awarded to the Tunnel Runners DG club. The baskets are in Salt Lake and the ball golf course closes permanently on Oct. 31. If you go look at the course you ... more

Not anyone I know in my circles. I applaud that your working to get it back to him though! I still have a few I was never able to track down the owner to return it.

It is with a great deal of interest as I read the bashing katherine biel a columnist for the city weekly gave the disc golf community as a whole in her hits and misses column on page 8 of todays city weekly. It would appear that she is much more comfortable accepting typical stereotypes of disc golfers rather then get off her lazy ass and do some research into the athleticism and quality and caliber of todays players. I find it humorous that she would take this approach given the liberal stance ... more

Thanks Richard, a disc golf buddy of ours is also a writer and we have been talking about an article highlighting disc golf and the prospects for a new course as well. When he saw this, he made sure he mentioned to me that this went through without anyone talking to him first. He went to the editors ... more

Hey everyone. I'm moving back to SLC next week and playing as much DG as I possibly can. Would like to play with a group of people that can show me some stuff since I'm still learning. I plan on mainly going to creekside since it is the closest to where I will be living. Not sure if the night league there will be good for my schedule as far as work goes, but would be nice to at least try it out. Add me to your friends list if you want to hook up and play some DG.

That I think is county land. I'm focusing on Salt Lake City (N of about 3300 S). Someone should start initiating the discussion with the county parks (which includes Creekside). Things went well and I'm working on some design options for at least a temporary setup in the Rose Park area. City officia ... more

Dude, that is awesome! Baskets installed at rose park ball golf course would also be cool. I would love to be involved with course design, or share some idea's on fairway "hazards"/"bunkers".

Markus Mika   May 13, 2013 at 2:32pm

Great, thanks Cassidy, down the line the par 3 golf course at rose park may still be an option and the temporary course is likely further north, but I'm pushing hard to get the city to collaborate with us. I will be heading to the more northern site this weekend walking it and start designing for th ... more

Hey everyone! We here at Knollwood are trying to raise money for merchandise to sell for our cleanup and improvement efforts. Follow the link at the bottom of this message for a full description, a short video presentation, and the opportunity to either donate, or share my message with others.

I have just heard that the director of the City of Kalamazoo Parks department has resigned, so we have a new opportunity to truly change the image of Knollwood.

Thanks to everyone for coming to the City's Parks Symposium. I think it was definitely a success! We were by far the most numerous group for the entire event (counted about 20 DG supporters in total). I've been told by my sources that city officials were really impressed not only with our crowd but also how positive we were about collaborating with them. UPDATE, The way it looks, Jordan River Park will be off limits until next year and then only for about 11 acres. There are additional 15 a ... more

I just wanted to make mention of an upcoming event in Idaho, the Southeast Idaho Invitational. It's a PDGA B-Tier event that encompasses two courses-Bengal Ridge in Pocatello and Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. I rate these courses 1 and 2 respectively as the best courses in Idaho. There are two rounds of 18 holes at Freeman Park on Saturday, Sept 22nd and 1 tee time round of Bengal Ridge on Sunday, Sept 23rd. It is well worth it! Casey has put together some great sponsorship and I know it will be ... more
