Hey everyone, I posted the Ace Race in the tournaments section. The Ace Race will take roughly 2 hours to complete. We're also going to have a "One and Done" tournament after the Ace Race. Hey everyone, I posted the Ace Race in the tournaments section. The Ace Race will take roughly 2 hours to complete. We're also going to have a "One and Done" tournament after the Ace Race. Two divisions, Advanced and Intermediate, will play one round only. It'll cost $10 to enter, and the payout is cash to the top 40% of the field in each division.

Before handing out the cash at the Juggernaut, I failed to recognize everyone who contributed and helped put this together. Quite frankly, everyone in the club stepped up and helped one way or another.

Special thanks to:
-Mike for donating the time and materials for the concrete pads. We did raise some money to begin paying off our debt, so be sure to make our next club meeting!

-Both Jeff and Mike for organizing the teepad installation and seeing it through to the end. Jeff did a great job working with Park and Rec for the approvals and you both put some hard work in getting the course ready for the concrete, not to mention the work Jeff and Mike did for clearing out the new fairways and relocating some of the baskets. Keith, Dave, Timmy, Ted, Kristen all helped pouring the concrete as well.
-The Walker family and Adam's Ribs for donating the most excellent disc golf tourney lunch I've ever had. That was amazing, and we were able to raise a lot of club fund from the food.
-My friends Billy and Trey for helping me pimp and prune the course on Memorial Day. Aside from cutting down all the overgrown trees and shrubbery, we sprayed weed killer and painted the road pads and OB lines.
-Everyone who brought Ice and Coolers to the tournament, especially Wesley for the table and huge coolers with ice.
-Brennan for helping stable the teesigns early in the morning.

Hey guys, i've done some cross checking and the weekend of Sept 8-9 is open and available for a tournament without conflict. The nearest conflict is a 4 hour drive to either Strassburg, VA or Virginia Beach. We should talk this a bit at the next meeting.

Ice Bowl comes to Southern Maryland January 22nd.

Disc Golf, also referred to as Frisbee Golf, is a new and quickly growing sport in Southern Maryland. The 18-hole Hot Shots disc golf course inside John. G Lancaster Park in Lexington Park, MD was opened in October 2009 and continues to attract new local players to the nationally growing sport. A long standing tradition for disc golf clubs across the country, annual "Ice Bowl" tournaments are held in January and February to raise both money and food donations for local food banks. Branded "No Wimps. No Whiners," disc golfers pledge to brave the winter elements to support the local food banks and help fight the battle against hunger. This year local disc golfers from St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles county have organized their very own 2012 chapter of Ice bowl disc golf tradition. All proceeds raised are being donated to the Southern Maryland Food Bank. The local disc golfers have set a goal at raising at least $500 and 100 lbs of food to send to the food bank. Players are urged to find sponsors to donate to the food bank by raising pledges per hole. The single round, 18-hole tournament will be held on January 22nd at the Hot Shots course. All players are asked to arrive by 9:00 A.M. and stay for the chili cook-off after competitive play. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers and also to those that have accumulated the most donations. Talked to Tyrone at parks. He said signed Waivers are fine. I can edit the waiver I used for the Hawk Hollow meet i ran last year.

I contacted them for a single day estimate, but you can see their yearly price.
I tried calling local agencies and they were either unknowledgable or sky-high estimates.

didn't make a pledge form yet. Would be very cool if you could help out. There are some samples on the icebowl website, but would like to discuss sponsorship levels with everybody next week before drafting the forms. I have some ideas but am unsure of donation values.

Jerry, Nice job on the email to Brenda. Just curious--how did you know to get in touch with Southern Maryland IceBowl? I don't mind helping make some of the forms. Did you make a pledge form for pledges/people to sign or flyer or both?
