I just moved out here and I live in Lincoln CIty. I am trying to get involved with the disc scene out here. Can I join a club?

Today is the last day for clubs to join the RIVAL CLUBS 2013 Series. All I require is a message from a club admin on discgolfscene to agree to host an event in 2013 for this series. NOTE; RIVAL CLUBS scoring system can parallel ANY "singles stroke-play" event so no need to displace events schedule for your commitment.

March 20, 2013 is the first day of spring!!! It also marks the LAST day for clubs to join the 2013 RIVAL CLUBS SERIES.

In my efforts to promote northwest disc golf clubs communication and relations by competing in this series and cooperating to share players for these events, I realize there must be some guidelines.

1) RIVAL CLUBS series sign ups cut-off date to be 1st day of spring each year. Events may be hosted before this day but ONLY clubs committed to host an event at their "home course" by the 1st day of spring may schedule an event for the RIVAL CLUBS series later in the year.

2) A club may ONLY claim a course as their "home course" if within the last year that club has contributed to said course in maintenance or development.

3) Details such as divisions, cost (buy-in, trophies), prizes of each RIVAL CLUBS series will be determined by the previous years committee of Tournament Directors.

4) ONLY clubs registered on discgolfscene.com are eligible to join a RIVAL CLUBS series since RIVAL CLUBS operates EXCLUSIVELY on discgolfscene. This is to make communication easy and to award players achievements using the discgolfscene system.

5) Each club participating in the RIVAL CLUBS series must contribute to the series the following;
A) Tournament Director (TD) willing to host an event using the RC points scoring system. Note; RC can parallel
B) A trophy decorated in ANY manor the "host" club sees fit. (host trophy goes to events "club points" leader)
C) Take an equal share in planing and hosting the series finale. (to be determined by committee of TDs)

In the beginning of forming the RIVAL CLUBS I suggested clubs who join the series would pay a annual series buy-in from club funds to pay for trophies for the series points leaders each year. It did not go over well with may interested clubs, in fact scared them of, but I think now that the scoring system is proven maybe that would be a prerequisite we would consider.

Note; I found that for RIVAL CLUBS the club a player claims as their home club is easy to track when the TD registers the club name with the players name in the same drop down box as seen in the 2012 RIVAL CLUBS FINALE results. Remember, ONLY one player from each club may place(credit points) in each division. In other words your teammate may shoot a better round than you in the same division, thus earning points for you club instead of you, total points for the series are not only by partic ... more

Remember, ONLY one player from each club may place(credit points) in each division. In other words your teammate may shoot a better round than you in the same division, thus earning points for you club instead of you, total points for the series are not only by participation but also earned by being the best score for your club. NOT so easy if many players from the same club play in the same division:)

As for the totals for players points for the series or scores you are looking for?

I can post the points chart but some "home" events were run through the other clubs pages and my access is limited.
If in 2013 all the host TDs use "RIVAL CLUBS" to host events for the series, ALL staff will be able to view scores and link players with email to provide achievements.

RIVAL CLUBS has some tuning to the system to do. Any ideas? Any clubs TDs interested in joining the 2013 series?

I think the scoring system is good the way it is, but if clubs could run home events through "RIVAL CUBS" and NOT their home club page it would make tracking the players and points dramatically easier.

Who will form the committee of TDs for the 2013 series? Please contact me for more info.

Just to clarify, the RIVAL CLUBS divisions were set at the RC#1 and CAN NOT be changed for the finale due to the scoring system. Robert's news on the CCDG club page suggests a senior grandmasters division:) Sorry, the geezer brigade will have to play grandmasters this year, maybe next year if the 2013 RIVAL CLUBS committee of TDs agrees:)

Im already pushing the 2013 RIVAL CLUBS SERIES to bring in new clubs and establish a series schedule sooner this time. The committee of TDs should be established by a set date this year. I will post more news when the RIVAL CLUBS decide.

I have charted "2012 RIVAL CLUBS" series points. I'm not releasing them yet due to some missing information. The information I require can ONLY come from the RC TDs of RC #2, RC #3 and RC #4. Mostly players info like name/email/club. All this would be easy IF only the "RIVAL CLUBS" club page was used to host events. Home course could be included in the tournament title to avoid confution. I will be meeting with Agro to go over the RC #4 results and settle that but I need the other 2 TDs to conta ... more

RIVAL CLUBS # 4 only a few hours away now! :) I'm so phyced to play my home course in this series. Thanks to the Chain Gang work parties and my friend Steve Moore, Woodmansee is looking better than ever:)

I agree that we need to schedule the finale but a neutral site is a must. There is 4 clubs that have scored points in RIVAL CLUBS, so a RC4 is needed unless Chain Gang agrees to decline hosting an event. I have had many conversations with Chain Gang leader (Agro) about this, yet NO EVENT scheduled! If we decide to allow CGDG to retire from the series, there should consequences, for example; not being allowed to score points in RIVAL CLUBS series in 2013. This was all CLEARLY explained to ALL TDs who agreed to participate in the series (not new rules) and furthermore I have made it clear many times, "I don't make the rules, just suggest the details and the committee of TDs make the rules TOGETHER!"

Who's in charge of this gig? Isn't October next week? My calculations have MVDSA on top. We had three events. So that makes three teams right. let's recalculate and have a final event people. What's the hold up? We could have it say Saturday November 3rd at Wortman. Let's finish what the #uck we started.

I will continue to track players for the series. REMEMBER, scores my change after the finale and current scores do not reflect points split (club points / players points). Awards for players with the most total series point at the finale can be tallied from these records and RC1 & RC2 events results so don't loose records please. I know the system is not perfect, I'm learning what clubs expect to do in RIVAL CLUBS with this years examples. Next year will have a club sign up deadline and event dates determined before the launch of the 2013 series.
