Saturday Oct 6:

When: Saturday October 6th @ 10 a.m.
What: 2 rounds of singles, All divisions
Where: Creekside parkWho can play: All ages and skill levels
Who can Play: All ages and skill levels
Cost: All Pro Divisions: $20, All amateur divisions $15
Optional Ace pot: $5
Optional 50/50(CTP(cash prize)): $5

Registration will start on Friday(Oct 5) from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. for this event and will open again from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. The event will be full when there is 80 total players. The two rounds will consist of 20 holes. We will have a short players meeting @ 9:30 and tee of at 10 a.m. There will be an hour for lunch after the last card from the first round comes in.

After the second round we will do a ring of fire for three different prizes followed by a short awards ceremony. There will be 100% payout to all divisions. Open will receive cash and the number of spots paid out will depend on how many people register. If no one hits the ace pot, it will be sacrificed to the dreaded ring of fire for anyone to take.

!!!!!!!!!PUTTING COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!

A putting competition will be held all weekend long! It will start on Friday and we will have the finals on Sunday after round two of the doubles event. The cost is $5 per turn. Each registrant will have 45 seconds to throw 15 putters into a basket. There will be three different stations with 5 putters at each station. Each orange putter(12) is worth 1 point and each pink is worth 3(3) with 21 points being a perfect score. The players with the most points will go to the finals on Sunday.

These two separate events are non-sanctioned. These events are being held for anyone(YOU) that loves the sport and who wants to have a relaxing day or two of friendly competition. However, we will be using the basic rules and etiquette that the PDGA rule book has set forth so that there will fair play among everyone. There will be NO two meter rule. Dynamic Discs is a Disc Golf retail company that has been in existence for 7 years. We want to promote this fast growing sport in a positive and healthy way. That is the one of the only ways this sport will ever be taken seriously by outsiders and media. Please help us show others so that Disc Golf can keep growing just a rapidly as it is today. That is bad ass!! Dude, Jake, snaggin signatures at the Monster Energy Challenge would be sweet. Total side note. Have you guys heard of the 18 hole disc golf course in Springville Utah at Jolly Ranch up Hobble Creek Canyon. I just read a couple of articles that mentioned it online. Was curious if anyone has played it. Apparently there are baskets there. Anyways, signatures again would be bad ass. I don't have any official form or anything. I like Rory's idea of online stuff. But getting signatures at a tourney is an awesome idea.

Where do i get signatures? Maybe we can send the form to all the leaders of the clubs and then put all the signature forms together. Also it doesn't have to be disc golfers. Anyone that supports the sport can also sign, like my family is another 3 signatures i can get. If we can get this form or whatever if there is an online link or something, I can get signatures next weekend at the monster energy challenge. We can get them at the trickle, the breeze, and then I will be going to the cache vall ... more

As far as uniting all the clubs for signatures, that is an awesome idea. Would love to do that. I would definitely need some help in getting that done just because I really don't know that many dudes outside the 801 Krew, or even in the 801 Krew. I tend to be a pretty solitary dude But yeah, we should definitely get together and possibly get that ball rolling for multiple club backing.

I live in South Jordan and hate having to drive to creekside and taylorsville. In my head i'm always designing 9 and 18 hole courses at the parks around south jordan so I could be of help there. Plus, since I will be going into the collegiate league of disc golf for U of O, I will probably meet some pros and PDGA people as well. If i come across the opportunity to share with one of the "powers that be" of disc golf the issue of lack of courses in utah, there could definitely be some outside help. Just keep me in the loop and i would love to help in any way to try to get some courses up in the Southern Western parts of the valley. And if we can unite NUDGA, Wasatch, 801 and Team utah, we could easily find 500 signatures. The scene here in utah is huge! Just a problem of getting everyone to sign one paper. I'm in the process of doing the same thing with the city of Salt Lake (not the county), so the area in the valley north of about 2700 South. We submitted an appeal the the mayor and the city council and are waiting for a hearing relatively soon. Great prospect with potential location(s) and design in place. Go ahead and do the same for SL County. The more the merrier. Great initiative. I'll keep everyone in the loop on when we need large numbers of folks to show up for the city public hearing, but it's great to do this for the entire valley (incl. the county).

Hello all. I just thought that I would post on some digging that I did as far as the development of new disc golf course in good ole Salt Lake. As you all may know, Salt Lake County is hosting two (2) disc golf tourneys next month at Creekside and Valley Regional. When I saw that I got pretty excited because I figured, hey this might be a good opportunity to touch base with the county and see what it would take to get some new disc golf courses installed. I spoke with a dude at the county by the name of Phil Eddings. Pretty chill dude. He basically said that the county parks and rec department are down with getting new disc golf courses in, but adding new courses in the valley are not part of the Salt Lake County's master plan. He gave an example, Crestwood Park. I don't know if any of you have been there, but there is a ton of open space there that could totally fit an 18 hole disc golf course. Salt Lake Parks and Rec are aware of it, but a disc golf course is not part of the county's master plan for that park.

With that I mentioned to Phil, what can be done to change that and potentially get a disc golf course installed. This is what he said. We, as disc golfers, would need to present to the county the growing interest of disc golf in general and show that the public would like to see more disc golf courses installed. How would we do that? Phil told me that we could get 500 signatures of peeps who would like to see new disc golf courses. Every week, Salt Lake County has an open meeting to the public where the public has an opportunity to present any issues or things they would like to see done by the county. If we were to show up to one of those meetings and show public interest in disc golf and the development of new courses, that could put disc golf on the "master plan". We would need to give them some examples of parks that a disc golf course could go into, like Crestwood Park. Also let them know that from and expense standpoint, it is relatively cheap to install a new disc golf course.

So I dunno, I would love to get this ball rolling with anyone else who would like to get involved. If we had one or two more courses added in the valley that would be super sweet. Maybe get a new 18 hole course in Crestwood and potentially get another course like in the south west part of the valley, like in Riverton or South Jordan or something.

What are your guys thoughts?

Is there anyone that lives in Herriman/Draper/Bluffdale? Anyone that lives in the south part of the valley knows that a course is needed in that area. The closest places to play are dry creek, creekside, and taylorsville so a course anywhere in that area would help out, even if it was just a little 9 hole course. If anyone is interested or can help that would be great

I'm excited like Rory. There are enough discers willing to put in the time and money (if necessary) to make a new course a reality, and soon. We just need to communicate effectively, and be organized. I know we can raise enough money once the time comes. Also, I have an update on the course at the U. I spoke to Mary Bohlig, Director Campus Recreation Services University of Utah (mlbohlig@crs.utah.edu). She says they are trying to find somewhere else on campus to put the 9 baskets they remo ... more

Also the 'Natural Areas' on that list may be off limits because of their ecological significance, but I was wondering about Jordan Park (33.5 acres) or Parley's Historic Nature Park (87 acres). Check out the pictures, they look promising in terms of challenging landscapes, particul ... more

Any other park on that list you think might work as well? I will definitely suggest Fairmont too besides the aforementioned ones.

I really like the idea of a course along the walking trail and park area across from Murray Parkway golf course(north side of I-215). It too runs along the Jordan river. I believe the park and walking trial area are called Willow Pond Park. Also Cottonwood Heights has announced new park land development by the Cottonbottom and Tuscany, that area has great potential for a disc golf course. I wold love to hear a conversation about Salt lake county golf courses putting baskets on unpopular golf courses like Pepple Brook, or Rose Park.
