Saturday Doubles This Week, Roc and Rolling Hills Sunday
Biig weekend for the 101:
Saturday Doubles:
DOUBLE POINTS in the MICPS this weekend, Saturday August 28th. Come on out to Indy Lake on Saturday for double points on the Chuck D. If I must say the course is looking absolutely pristine right now. We start at noon, don't be late.

Sunday 8/29: Roc and Rolling Hills
http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Roc_N_Rolling_Hills_2010
1st round will be combined with "Church" league and MICPS points will be available.
$20 all divisions. 101 merch pile is looking real good right now with all of the Loco stuff in stock.
Please expect a very relaxed and FUN tournament. Two rounds of 18 at a fantastic course.
Registration from 9-10.
Overall the 101 is in a generous mood right now. Good vibes from a new course and a positive outlook on the future of this sport. Come out to share the good times and get hooked up with sweet merch!
One more update on the Chuck D. Final tweaks are now "cut in", bids are coming in from contractors and concrete pads (6'x12' = HUGE) are expected to be installed towards the end of September. This is the first time we have every actually got a firm date from the park so things are looking good to have concrete in this fall.

Local 101 will recommend (to the park) someone with past experience doing teepads.

2010 Sponsorship Form
Dear Local 101 Supporter,
Please see our 2010 Loco Cinco sponsorship form:
http://local101dg.com/media/2010_Sponsorship_Form.pdf
This document details the different packages and benefits available for sponsoring Loco Cinco this year on May 2nd.
We are offering an incentive this year for bringing in a new sponsor, and that is a 25% commission, or "finder's fee" to be paid to the person who brings in a sew sponsor. So if you bring in a hole sponsor for $101 then you will get $25! We are trying out this method this year based on other standards we have seen in other areas of fundraising.
Please note the sponsorship cutoff dates:
April 1st to be on the tournament shirt (for Gold level sponsors).
April 15th to be on the tournament hole sign.
Cheers,
Scott White

League Ace, A2 Points Series Update
Joe Monteith aced hole 4 on the Chuck D Course this weekend to take down the $230 ace pool. Joe generously donated $36 (one for each hole) back to the Ace Pool so we are not starting from zero. Thanks buddy, you roc. Joe also earned himself 50 extra points in the Ann Arbor Cooperative Points Series (A2CoPS).
There is quite a battle going on right now for the title of “Best Player in the World” (or Ann Arbor at least, which puts you in the running for world) with Bob Smart jumping out to a commanding 31 point lead. We shall see if he continues to golf once the temperature drops below freezing.
To beat Bob, show up to an officially sanctioned A2CoPS event: Noon Saturdays at Independence Lake, 10am Sundays at Rolling Hills or 7pm Wednesdays (Glow) at Bandemer Park. Schedule, leaderboard and talk board are all here on Disc Golf Scene:
http://www.discgolfscene.com/leagues/Ann_Arbor_Cooperative_Point_Series_2009
We are currently in the planning stages for the A2CoPS final event, which will take place sometime this spring. More details to come soon.

No League on Halloween
We will temporarily suspend Saturday Doubles this week to allow everyone to play in Mystic Mills at Hudson Mills. So Saturday Dubs will not be played for points or ace pool this week and will resume on November 7th with a singles day on the Picnic Course. If some of you cannot make the full time commitment of a tournament and still want to play a noon doubles round then post here on the dgscene talk section and we'll get something going.
Here is the all the info you would need for Mystic Mills:

There is another cool event going on the same day and if you are in the Pinconning area check it out:

TD for this event is Tom Swarthout who many of you may know. He is just starting out as a TD and it looks like he has a really cool format with three rounds of 13 - best shot triples.

Big thanks to Garrett, Harrison, Beerman, Scott White, Scott Ransley, Forch, Smitty, Terry Sink, Jim Daniels, Joe Arnet, and Tom the park maintenance guy. Still a lot of work to be done out there, but today we knocked out a bunch!

Chuck D Course Update, Union Strikes!
So as many of you have seen, the Chuck D Memorial Course at Independence Lake is now sleeved and 18 brand new Chainstars adorn the 60+ rustic acres. While the baskets are in, much work remains. Over the coming weeks we will be installing signs and temporary teepads. So right now yes the course is playable, but for your first round on the Chuck D try to find someone that has played it at least once to show you around. Once signage is installed we will be pushing to get concrete teepads poured as soon as possible, and if all goes well they could be in before 2010. We intentially did not do concrete off the bat because we want to have the ability to tweak teepad locations as the course settles in. So if you have any suggestions feel free to talk to us on the course or send a message to Scott White, Josh Romine or Mike Fortunato and we will take all of those suggestions into account when finalizing teepads.
Also don't forget that the Picnic Course is set to be installed October 17th which will also be week one of Local 101 Saturday Doubles at Indy Lake. Flip off at noon.
On October 18th we are holding our third tournament of the year:
"Union Strikes for Indy". We are ordering custom stamped plastic from Discraft for this event: Preds, Comets, Surges and Buzzzes. Pre-registration is possible on discgolfscene.com. More info here:

Course Work Day Tomorrow (Saturday), 2pm @ Indy Lake
Reminder: Disc Golf Course Work Day is tomorrow at Independence Lake County Park. Saturday at 2pm on the Chuck D Memorial Course. Please bring gloves, loppers, rakes and shears if you have any of this stuff. We are limited to hand tools. Here is a quick summary of what we will be doing.
-General cleanup (sticks and branches) on holes 1,2,3,13,14,18
-Clearing Brush and olives left side of hole 2 (main reason for the work day)
-Trimming low branches on holes 1,8
..and that's it! The course really looks fantastic in my opinion other than a few problem areas. Once we get these taken care of then we will organize a round to see how these improvements actually play. Hope to see you tomorrow at this work day.
Directions and Course Information:

Roc and Rolling Hills - Call for Sponsors
Local 101 is looking for CTP donations for Roc and Rolling Hills - August 22nd.
Our goal is to have all 24 holes sponsored with a Closest To Pin (CTP) prize. A donation can be as simple as a disc and we encourage donations from individuals, clubs and leagues. Please get creative! Baked goods and fresh produce prizes are underrated. We will take all donations and assemble them together in a big pile of CTP goodness to distribute back to the players.
Send an email to [email disguise] or post in the talk section on RnR Hills (http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Roc_and_Rolling_Hills_2009/talk). Claim a hole and give a description of your CTP prize so we can all get collectively stoked. I'll start the process. Hole 1 gets a disc golf bag, towell and full color mini.
Also, cash-less preregistration worked pretty well for us at Loco IV, so we're going to continue to use it. We are currently accepting registrations. We are not offering the typical divisions that most tournaments have, so please read the description before you register. More information about Roc and Rolling Hills 2009 can be found here: http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Roc_and_Rolling_Hills_2009

HELP!!!
Friday morning the 1st of May, I need help putting the baskets together, placing the baskets, and putting the finishing touches on the Charlie Drukis Memorial Course at Independence. I will also need help taking the course out of the ground Saturday evening immediately after the tournament. This includes taking the baskets apart. If it sounds like work, then I have described this correctly. Call me 734-272-2441. A crescent wrench and socket set will help.

Independence Lake, 4/18/09
Please avoid playing Independence Lake this Saturday April 18th. You will not have an enjoyable round unless you play really early in the morning. Due to the nice weather, the park is expecting to get a good number of picnic-ers who will be in your way - all day. Best to just avoid it all together, or play early.
Instead, feel free to help us install the 2nd course at Independence, we will be working hard from 10am-2pm and we need all the help we can get. There may be time for a round afterwords at the new course, playing to a portable basket. Call Scott @ 734-276-7207 for questions or to arrange a ride.
We will also have raffle tickets for $5 for a Discraft Chainstar ($350 value) on sale. Thanks!
