I disagree completely with that comment. Doubles leagues are the perfect environment to promote our sport to less skilled players. My first experience playing competitive disc golf was at the Kensington league. I had never played for money before. My partner that day was Gale Vaughn. Needless to say we had a blast and that inspired me to play more organized golf.
And now I get to kick all your asses with whatever partner I get.....;)

However, if you are a clear AM4 and you show up to play a doubles league, you might piss off your partner.

These are all great leagues. Some have a $5 pay in and $1-2 Ace pool buy in and others are free, but as Chris said, just show up and play. Only a handful of us will actually put the fresh fish through the rickets ;)

Just show up on a league day. Most leagues have no membership dues. Just so up and play.

I'm not too sure about these guys here. And you definitely want to stay away from those Exploding Shroom dudes. They drink and party at elementary schools and hold fake doubles events. Shit heads really.

Brad Brundage April 23, 2011 at 12:00am
Thanks guys. That sucks, drove all the way out there to play and it was not in. Bummer.
I cannot play Loco because of my girls and I am playing Spring Fling on Sunday so I guess I will not get to play picnic again. Bummer

The beach side baskets were pulled about a month ago. They're in the ground roughly October-March.
Mike Fortunato April 22, 2011 at 11:53pm
Brad,
The park pulls the north side of the picnic course in mid-March. You can play the entire course on Saturday if you register for Loco Sixo, or on Sunday. I believe they are pulling it for good on Monday.
Brad Brundage April 22, 2011 at 11:50pm
Went to Indy Lake today and the front side of the picnic had been pulled. Does anyone know what is going on with that? I wanted to play it one more time before it is gone forever. We played the other 8 near Chuck D, but could not play the other 10 holes.

Agreed Brooke, that is the great thing about leagues and the lower stakes more casual environment is a great way to introduce newer/less skilled players to competitive golf and the etiquette that goes along with that. If you get upset about $5 lost at a doubles league then you are probably in it for the wrong reasons.. I treat it as a bonus when I walk away with some cash.

That said, Local 101 Saturday doubles does cater to the more experienced player just due to the regular group (and the course). Steve P. you may want to check out 24 Chains, that is a really great fun league that typically plays for even lower stakes or many times just the bragging rights.
