2012-13 End of the Year BBQ

We will be having our final K-State League night out at Tuttle Creek for some BBQ and disc golf! Please be sure to reply in the discussion thread on the Talk tab (http://www.discgolfscene.com/clubs/K-State_Disc_Golf_Club/talk) to provide a head count. 2013 NCDGC Standings

As the season comes to a close this weekend with the National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships taking place down in North Augusta, SC, I found some noteworthy highlights regarding our national standing: **We are currently ranked 36th out of 84 schools nationally. **Out of the schools that did not receive a bid to Nationals, we were only 3 places from receiving the points bid (Awarded to the school with the most cumulative points that has not yet qualified for the NCDGC) For a complete d ... more

Club Meeting | Thursday, March 7th

The St. Louis qualifier for NCDGC is rapidly approaching! I have reserved the Kemper Foundation Conference Room in Hale Library, which is located on the 4th Floor (Hale 401B). We will be meeting at 6:00 PM. There are several topics I'd like to discuss to determine how we can make this trip a successful one. Your attendance and ideas would be greatly appreciated. The St. Louis qualifier for NCDGC is rapidly approaching! I have reserved the Kemper Foundation Conference Room in Hale Library, which is located on the 4th Floor (Hale 401B). We will be meeting at 6:00 PM. There are several topics I'd like to discuss to determine how we can make this trip a successful one. Your attendance and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Among the topics to be discussed is raising enough money to send a team to the tournament. I still have a nice stack of Millennium discs with the K-State powercat on them from the 2012 team's fundraiser. This would be an easy way to cover the team's entry fee. Each disc is $20, where $10 goes back to Discs Unlimited and $10 stays with us (see attachment). Therefore we would need to get rid of 12 discs to meet the $120 entry fee. Bring $20 (cash or check) to the meeting if you're interested in helping out!!

Qualifier Tryout Rounds

In order to determine which players will be competing in the Gateway Collegiate Classic (St. Louis, MO) we will be conducting a series of tryouts. Each player is required to participate in a total of nine (9) rounds. Three rounds must be played at each of the following courses: Fairmont Park, Warner Park, & Tuttle Creek. In order to determine which players will be competing in the Gateway Collegiate Classic (St. Louis, MO) we will be conducting a series of tryouts. Each player is required to participate in a total of nine (9) rounds. Three rounds must be played at each of the following courses: Fairmont Park, Warner Park, & Tuttle Creek.

A “Q-round” consists of a full 18 holes between at least three (3) players. These players do not have to be K-State players, but there needs to be two other players present to verify your score. Each player must record their score on a scorecard and have each player sign it. You must declare that you are using this is a qualifier-tryout round before the round begins.

Be sure to play each course according to the league rules associated with each course. For example at Fairmont Park, all roads and beyond are out-of-bounds, as well as the road that dissects Hole 4. At Warner Park, remember to not throw over the top of the trees on Hole 1 and to play the practice basket from Hole 9’s tee the first time through and then the long placement the second time through.

I will be recording each player’s scores as they are reported until I have three 18-hole scores from that player. The best two (2) scores from each course will be used to determine a player’s average score out of six (6) total rounds.

Warner Park Follow-Up (Parks & Rec)

Members of the local disc golf affiliations gave a presentation to the city Parks and Recreation Advisory Board at the beginning of November. After realizing that further discussion would be necessary before proceeding with the "Next 9 Phase" of Warner Park, the board has scheduled disc golf to be a topic on this month's agenda. Therefore, if you are free tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 PM, it would be great to make another strong showing to show our enthusiasm and support of the sport. Here� ... more

Winter Schedule

Just a quick reminder that the K-State Doubles League has been moved to Saturdays at 1:30 PM through the winter months. With that in mind, we will follow the university calendar for holiday breaks meaning there is will be no official league for the next two Saturdays (11/17 - 11/24).

Just passing on some local disc golf news, encouraging anyone and everyone to attend a presentation that involves the K-State Disc Golf Club! Region 3 - Upper Midwest Qualifier, Ottumwa IA

Our first chance at qualifying for the 2013 National Collegiate Disc Golf Championships is being held Friday and Saturday, October 5-6 in Ottumwa, Iowa. This qualifying tournament is the closest in proximity to Manhattan, KS (339 miles/5 hours, 43 minutes). We can take up to two teams of 4 players each: 1 team for the Championship Division and 1 team for the First Flight Division.
