Club member achievement.
Pam James hits first personal ACE and first in the short history of the Marysville Thursday Night Draw Doubles. She Aced hole #15, with an Innova Pro Vulcan. 5 witnesses, 3 of us Hyzer members. She earned $13.00, but donated it back to the Fund to keep it growing.

"Putt Around the Park" results for 3/17/2012
The field was small but we did earn $30.00 more for new hole placements. I would like to that all that came and played today. Without you our park would not be able to improved like we are doing. Here are today's results: The 1st round was led by our friend from Ottawa Denny Hills followed by Jacob Frost with Jack Haven bringing up 3rd place. Hello everyone!! It is a new year and I hope to see you ALL soon. We have posted the events planned for this year. Please try to attend as many as you can. The 1st event is our 1st "PUTT AROUND THE PARK" for this year. This event was created to specifically bring in money to make new hole placements. We will be having it on the 3rd Saturday of each month starting 3/17/12. Thanks and I hope you all have a GREAT year.

21st Annual Columbus Ice Bowl
Just some club member activity updates and congrats. On Saturday the 14th, the Columbus Flyers held their 21st annual charity Columbus Ice Bowl. This is a charity event supporting the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Hyzer members attending were Corey Cummins, Rick Keeler, Bryant Williams, Pam James and myself. Although Rick thoroughly kicked my tail, neither of us finished in the prize level. Corey Cummins on the other hand finished 3rd in our division. Awesome Job Corey, Way to represent and Congrats. Bryant Williams finished first in the Junior division, and recorded his first ever ACE on hole #6 of the Brent Hambrick Memorial Course, at which the tourney was held. Congrats to him also. Corey also got an ACE on hole H if I remember it correctly. He got the Ace fund prize of 74 dollars. He did not have to split it with the other ACE scored because Dad forgot to enter him in the Ace Fund . Just as a side note, Pam and Brian won the Chili Cook-off that was held as one of the side contests. Thats right, Good thing we can cook, cause we couldn't win nothin with our Huckin. I will try to post tournaments and all pertinent information from time to time for those that are interested.

Saturday Nov. 19th at 12 noon at shelter house #2 we will be awarding year end prizes and certificates. After that we will take nominations for all board positions for the 2012 year. I know this has been texted around several times, but wanted to reach those who we may not have updated numbers for.

Putt Around the Park
As of now we only have 6 players signed up for this event. and 4 of those have paid. This event is a fund raiser for OUR park to try and get more money to add NEW basket placements. We are a club over 40 members strong and only 6 have signed up for this event. If you can not make it please help us by donating at least $5.00 toward the fund. We all need to stand together and be 1 to make a difference. Thanks, Jeff M

Ace Race Entry!
I will be at the shelter house near hole # one tonight from 5:15pm to 5:45pm for anyone who needs to enter the Ace Race. We must order the packs from discraft by the end of today. This will be your last chance to be guaranteed a Pack for the Ace Race!!!

Our deadline for ordering the Ace Race packs is Sept. 10th. If you want to be guaranteed a player pack and be able to play you must register and pay by the 10th! Once our order to Discraft is in it's final. If you already have your Pack from a previous Ace Race this year, then your all set and can just show up the 24th with your $10.00 and play. I hope to see lots of support for this fun event!

Ten of us played a round on Saturday night at Rutan. Had a blast! Thanks to Matt Miller for getting it off the ground. The motive was to see how it would work and overall it went very well and definitely took disc golf to a new level. We'll do it again in the future, a glow disc or lighted disc is the best way to go. Matt brought solar lights and lit up each basket and Corey purchased some glow sticks that lit up the chains. Good job boys.

We are starting the new Summer league season today! We are adding a no-pay division this season so there's no excuse if you play that you shoudn't be there. We also have interest in a jr. division if we can get the players, So 14 and under come on out and join the fun!

Club meeting review
I have read over the discussions and results of the meeting and will adjust forms as needed. As club Treasure I must inform all of you that the proposed, and passed year end pay out is financially in the red and therefore will not be altered at this time. We will hold a forum before or after Sunday's Round to discuss any new proposals and vote following the forum.

Here is the discussion and vote from Sunday. We had 11 people show and 2 people vote by proxy. Discussion was we need to replace absent board members with active ASAP. A board member that represents a certain division shall be appointed by the division members by vote. He or she shall vote with the majority of his division by SPEAKING to them and getting their thoughts. (We have been lax in this.) That board member will be the one to fill the signup sheet with the scores for that day. Any cheat ... more

Any cheating will not be tolerated and was suggested that anyone caught cheating be removed from the club immediately and also was suggested to give a 1 time warning first. This matter is passed on to the board for further review. Brian Williams will run the score cars at the start of the day and determine who plays with who. It was voted unanimous to fill the cards in the following manor; Weeks 1 thru 3 Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice will be on the same card if there are enough in each division. Weeks 4 thru 8 Novice play their own card, Advanced and Intermediate will be mixed on a card. Weeks 9 thru 12 all divisions will play on their own cards top players together and so on in order of ranking. The top players overall each week will go on a card in the 1st position by order of best score from the previous week and will choose in order what hole their card starts. The card will then be filled by Brian with the above mentioned mix.(Thank you Jack Haven and Brian Williams). A suggestion box will be made and brought to the weekly signups and any suggestions will be reviewed by the board and considered for the next season.( Thank you Justin McCall) If a division rep is moved up he will be replaced by a vote from the division he left. No existing rules will be altered during league play. It was also voted 10 to 1 to allow 4 pre plays in a season and not to limit misses no penalties other than the default score for that division and that the top worst 2 scores will be removed at the end of the season. Also by a vote of 10 to 1 the “End of Year” payout will change so that ALL players that have a minimum of 10 weeks in the league will receive a disc of their choice. The top 3 winners of each division will receive an additional disc. Plus the “ League Champion” bag markers now in use. Any balance of monies will go to the club general fund. The vote on the service road was; 1 to make it OB for just the Advanced players, 2 to keep it OB and 9 to return to not being OB. A paint line will be made near Williams Ave to define that line. ONLY the service road area is not OB now, the other connecter road IS OB. There is NO relief from the building nor the gravel pile or any other obstacle in this area as in regular play. Everyone that is to play on Sundays is asked to arrive no later 5 minutes prior to the start so Brian can get the cards set up. Thank You ALL. By a vote of 11 to 2 we will be playing Labor Day week end. There were other items that were discussed and dropped from lack of interest. Enjoy your Summer league and HAVE FUN!!!!

3. there will be board changes our vp is non existent at this point for personal reasons. at the end of this year therewill be elections if someone wants the job of being a board member.
4.once league rules have been set for league play, these rules cannot be changed in the middle of the season.creates to much confusion.will try to have a printed copy before the league starts.
5.as far as the service road is concerned it should remain out of bounds in the spirit of the game. universal rules of disc golf make all hard surfaces out of bounds,except tee boxes which is against the rules to have these areas out of bounds. so my vote is keep service road OB.
6.novice and intermediate players are more than welcome to play with higher players to learn, but we must limit this in the later stages of the league and not on long tee days.
7.also we are probably gonna make the rules a little simpler for us so we dont have as many headaches. this is proposed rules all twelve weeks will count, and two weeks will be thrown out regardless of when they are played,also you will have 2 preplays if needed. if more are warranted the board must approve and we have been pretty lax on this guys and gals. just let us know of the circumstances and shouldnt be a problem.
8. if you have a suggestion please put it in writing and explain your idea so all of us on the board can read and draw our conclusions on the idea.we cant go on second hand information it gets construed and then the main idea is lost.
9 this is in response to jeffs comment on we should let the players make the rules for league well i believe that the board is made up of players and for the most part the different divisions are represented on the board. except maybe the intermediate division since duane moved to adv. just throwing that out there for ya.if i am doing such a poor job i will gladly step down if that is what is needed.
10. In closing we can not make everyone happy. all of us will have to make concessions at times. and by no means are we making people do things to satisfy us. it is still your decision to play or not to play you make your priorities not us.we try to make our decisions based on the club as a whole not on individual schedules. it is just a game and the purpose is to have fun.

10. Novice & Intermediate should be allowed opportunity to play with the Advance players during regular league play. This allows them to compete for lower tag numbers and encourages them to play better.
11. Matt Wright should always be referred to as "Top Dog" or "Discman Matt" while on the course.
12. No Whiners! Have Fun! Shut-up and Throw! Relax, it's just a game.

For the Record
I think there are way too many clauses and restrictions. We need to get back to the basics and make this league fun again. This league was made for the players not the board. The players should make the rules decisions and any holidays to play or not play before the league starts. So a meeting with the players before league starts is a must. Jeff McCall

New Basket Placement on Hole 18
I would like to commend Eric Watkins and Tony Cauley and who ever helped them on the placement of the “B” basket location on Hole 18 at Mary Rutan Park “A very Professional job” plus the money they saved the club on material will be noticed with this and as we place more “B” basket locations around the park. Ideas are welcome on basket locations.( In writing please some days we are lucky to remember our names…..LOL ) Once again GREAT JOB GUYS !!!!

I made some bag tags for all of the club members. You will receive your number after the first week of league play so be there or you will have to take a bottom number and fight your way up the ladder. They are crude and you will need to provide your own key ring or chain and your tag must be visable on your bag ALL of the time. The bag tag rules will be posted on the Hyzers website. We will be able to purchase professionally made tags at the cost of around $5.00 each and will take your donations for those any time. Woo Hoo let the fun begin!!!

well the hyzer club very well at the doubles tourney. josh stone took first with partner, and Tony cauley,Jeff Mccall,Justin Davis,Shaun Wright,and also Jason Wagner all took 2nd place. Also Angie Cauley took ctp for her card,Laurel Wagner and Jacob Stone also got a ctp. Josh Stone was hot at the ring of fire took like 6 different prizes.Also taking prizes from ring of fire was Tony Cauley,Nate Herron,Shaun Wright,Jason Wagner,Trent Nicholl,Brian Williams,and some others.thanks for the support at this event and congrats to all those that took prizes home.

Brian got an Ace with his first throw on Sunday's League Play on hole #13. He received $146.00 and donated $46.00 back to the club!!! Way to go Brian!!! His Pic and a short story should be in Wednesday's Bellefontaine Examiner Sports Whirl.

October 8th is Last Night for League Doubles
Just letting everyone know that October 8th is last night for the Doubles League. Also, if you have been playing regularly in the Doubles League on the 8th, if no one has hit the Ace Fund, we will have a CTP at the end of the evening for the fund. If you have never played in the Doubles or have played less than 4 times throughout the season, then YOU DO NOT qualify for the CTP that night. This is for the fact that you did not contribute to the Ace Fund growth as many others have. If you are u ... more

Since today marks the mandatory start of our points race I have posted everyones spot on the leader board in their division. This is difficult due to so many missing weeks, so what I have done is list the top scores where I could match the amount of weeks to the players in each division. Eccept for Jim B and I had to add the top score posted in the league for his W/D in week 2. If this is ok with everyone I will follow this method for the duration If you have a better idea I am open to suggestions. Thanks

I stopped at the park office today and penciled in August 7th for our tournament as per what Tony and I had discussed the other day. The shelter houses are available and the odds of rain should be slim. June 5th for me is not a good date but if the rest of you want it I can check with the parks dept. and see if it's OK. IMO August would give us more time to get membership stuff going and be more organized. I love the get after it spirit we have going right now so I'll stay tuned to what everyone else thinks. ;)

Jeff you have any ideas on a date yet or what we want to have at this event? Some of the things we need to address are food, raffles ,signs ,tourney shirts ,registry area and such. thats some of the ideas i have so far. Your thoughts,maybe even get some discs from jcsports to sell at the park .
