Come on guys. Don't wait until the last minute to register for the trilogy challenge. Let's make this happen!

If we want to build the community around the area, we need to be doing things like this.

Benjamin Wonders    July 25, 2014 at 9:33pm

Just a reminder that registration for the Trilogy Challenge needs to be in by August 5th. If you want to play, get signed up as soon as you can.

OK guys, I am looking at setting up some extra holes for the trilogy challenge. I am hoping for 3 extra holes. Anyone ever been walking the park and think to yourself, that would be a cool hole? I want to hear your ideas for extra holes.

when i did the ace race there i had a hole playing through the trees over by the national gaurd base

Rex Noaker   July 20, 2014 at 9:21pm

they are planted in tight rows and it made for an interesting tunnel shot

? What fence? If you're throwing long enough to reach his back yard you should be playing for a living. DUMB!

Max N. Plouck   June 10, 2014 at 11:41am

Bryan Parks FYI - the house at the end of the street has no fence! Terrible placement on the basket now.

John Ryan   June 25, 2014 at 12:13am

We didn't have a say on its placement didn't even know about it till after it was done

Max N. Plouck    June 8, 2014 at 1:43am

WTF? The basket on #18 in Bryan is GONE!

How much rain did Bryan get last night? Is the course a swamp?

I threw a round today and it's a mess, but somehow didn't get my feet wet.

Benjamin Wonders   May 22, 2014 at 10:50pm

Thanks for the reports, fellas.

Throughout the next few weeks of league I would like to find and mark all of the long tees. Ben and myself marked 1, 3, 8, and 9. We were unable to find hole 2. If you know where any of the hard to find ones are, please let me know. I will carry a can of blue marking paint with me during league to mark ones I find. I would also like to replace the missing ones but will need someone who knows their placements help. I would like to get all 3 layouts marked so they are easily playable to try and make the course more appealing to a wider range of people. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

awesome. depending on the weather I may try and mark some today after work.

Brian Taylor   May 20, 2014 at 10:27am

I am also planning on GPS marking all the tees and making a new map to post online with updated tee locations.

Brian Taylor   May 20, 2014 at 2:35pm

I am planning to come out after work today to find and mark the long tees. I will be out of work around 3:30 and plan to be there by 3:45ish. I won't have time to stay for league but I may throw a few from the longs while marking them.

It has been suggested that we throw a tournament at the end of August or beginning of September. The tournament that was suggested was the Trilogy Challenge. It looks like this may cost around $700 to throw. I haven't added it up exactly in a while but we should be around the $200 range for club funds that could go directly to that cost. Which leads us to where we are going to come up with roughly $500 for the rest. Keep in mind if we sell out the spots we would make all that money bac ... more

I'm looking at the page for the Trilogy Challenge, and they're showing event dates from May 31 to August 22, so we should probably try to fall within that range. Looking at the list of events here, I see that the third weekend in August is pretty light. There's a women's C-tier n ... more

Finally I want to speak a bit about club leadership. The people running leagues aren't doing it because they are paid or because they have a bunch of extra time on their hands or because they have nothing better to do, they are doing it to create awareness and give people who love this sport an opportunity to see the competitive side of it without costing an arm or a leg. There aren't many clubs that offer free weekly leagues and do so 2 seperate times a week. Thankfully Josh has st ... more

I'm also going to make a point to say that calling people for violations can ruin rounds. It's a 2 edged sword. It isn't any fun to have someone out there with a ruler measuring off the 10 inches behind your disc every throw (although it is fully within your rights to do so). It also isn't any fun to lose your tag because someone threw the disc in a tree and disregards the stance rule and is throwing from an illegal stance to avoid the hassle of being in a tree. Thought I'd clear the air on a few things. I posted the rules from the PDGA on the definition of a lie and what constitutes a legal throw from a stance. I've heard some complaints of people offsetting their "point of contact" by up to 3 feet left or right of their lie and would like to make it known that it is considered a stance violation and can result in a warning which means you would have to rethrow without a penalty. The warning does not have to be seconded by anothe ... more

Lie: The spot on the playing surface behind the marker, upon which the player takes a stance in accordance with the rules. It is a line 30 centimeters in length extending back along the line of play from the rear edge of the marker disc. The lie for the first throw on a hole is the teeing area. A drop zone is also a lie

When the disc is released, a player must: 1. Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the lie; and,
2. Have no supporting point in contact with the marker ... more

If anyone is interested in going along, I'm heading to Ottawa for the Monday night doubles league tomorrow. Start time is at 6:30. Cost is $5 to play and an optional $10 (one time) if you want in on the ace pool. Hit me up on here or 419-344-1655 if you want to ride along from Defiance.

After some thought I'd like to apologize for my angry outburst at league play today! As I am effectively out of any running in league play since I will miss 4 Sundays. 3 for my Natl Grd responsibilities and 1 to play a tourney. I will keept comments & ideas to myself from now on. I will just come play and have fun. If the Bag Tags are sold out and some one wants one I will sell my #7( provided the rules allow it) as I am done with that mess. All in all great throwing today and even better weather! PEACE!

It was a great day for throwing. I wish everyone had the time to stick around longer so we could have gone around again. Have a good week.

I'm curious to know how hard that 5:30 start time is.

Josh Thomas   April 21, 2014 at 1:03pm

11:00 for the Sunday league, and 5:30 for the Tuesday league.

Brian Barclay   April 25, 2014 at 8:52am

Ben, what time you thinking? I don't want to go much later than that. Does 5:45 work for you?

Benjamin Wonders    April 15, 2014 at 4:03am

If anyone cares to make a trip, Louis and I are planning to go toss a round in BG on Saturday evening.

Has anyone thought about putting on an ace race in Bryan this year? I think the course would be perfect for one. I don't think we would have any problem getting enough players for it either.

I could probably throw a little into the kitty, too.

Brian Barclay   April 12, 2014 at 10:18pm

Well let me get a hold of the park director and make sure we have one of those days we can do something with.

Benjamin Wonders   April 20, 2014 at 11:25pm

I was just doing a little reading, and we could have people pre-register and pay before we actually get the Ace Race or Trilogy Challenge stuff. It's not the ideal solution, but if we don't get the minimum amount of players we could decide whether to refund the money or just cover the difference.

Benjamin Wonders    March 28, 2014 at 8:20am

If anyone wants to throw this weekend, I'd be down to play.

Scott McCullough   March 29, 2014 at 1:31pm

Ok. I'm still planning on playing from 11 until around 2. I'm hoping to get two rounds in. We won't tee off until at least 11 incase anyone else wants to join us.

Benjamin Wonders   March 30, 2014 at 12:59am

I think there will be a couple others. See you there.
