Guests that wish to come and play after the final round can do so for a suggested $5 donation or free with the purchase of a Bad Monkey Rising Glo Disc for $10.


The first round is played as singles. Both player's scores will be averaged to determine your team's first round score. The second round will be played as traditional best throw doubles. If either player's disc lands in the basket from the tee it will be counted as an ace for the team. Teams should decide beforehand if they are going to split ace winnings or give it to the player that hit the ace. The ace pot will be rounded up to an even $25. If no one hits an ace the money will go to Bad Monkey Bikes to cover some of their costs for the night.

Bad Monkey Rising Course

Lakeview Par Three Golf Course is back in action for one night only!!! Bad Monkey Rising will be held at Lakeview ball golf course this year. The course will be set up in a 9 hole configuration to be played through twice per round. Lakeview has been used before during the Stumptown Slosh series and was a great time. Bad Monkey Rising glo doubles

Bad Monkey Rising!!! PDGA XC-Tier glo doubles event. Saturday November 3rd. $25 entry fee includes glo disc and dinner. Approx start time 3pm and continuing into the dark. McCormick Park Fundraiser!!!

This weekend (Sunday) Stumptown Disc Golf Association is holding a fundraiser tournament at Trojan for a course that was recently approved for McCormick Park in St Helens. This will give us another course on the way out to Trojan! The tournament is a PDGA sanctioned C-Tier for just $30. Since it is a fundraiser there is no player pack, but $10 of every entry goes to the course fund.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Do I have to be a PDGA member?
YES and no. Advanced players are playing in an A-Tier event and the PDGA requires A-Tier/Supertour players to have a current PDGA membership. Intermediate
You do not need to be a member, but non-members pay a $10 fee to the PDGA in order to play in any PDGA sanctioned event.

Is there a cap on number of players?
We are increasing the number of players this year to 144. "Pool A" will consist of MA1 and FA1 and will have a maximum of 72 players. "Pool B" will consist of all other divisions and will have a maximum of 72 players.

North Eco Park, Canby

Hey DiscGolfers!

The course is looking pretty dang good right now. Half of the tees are completed, and we did a ton of clearing on Saturday. Get out there and enjoy it!

Side Note:
PLEASE abide by the "No Alcohol" rule on the course! The Park Dept has already talked to me about this as people are leaving their beer cans and bottles all over the course. Please clean up after yourself, and if you see anyone else's trash, pick it up as well! We need to be good stewards of the opportunity we've been given!

Work Party Saturday! The weather is getting nicer and the underbrush is starting to fill in. We need to get those fairways finished before Spring is in full session! Here’s what’s on the agenda for Saturday:

The forecast so far is rain, so dress appropriately and make sure to bring water and gloves (a snack isn’t a bad idea either).

- Hole 11 needs some blackberry clearing on the right side of the green ( ~1 hr w/ brush mower)
- I’ll be spending the majority of the day with a chainsaw working on hole 12’s fairway

- Remove ivy from trees along fairways and near tees and baskets

If we get through all of this, we can start leveling the tees under the mats. If you’re able to come, please let me know so that I can have an idea of what to expect. Bring gloves and standard work clothes. Also, please invite your friends.

Also, last Saturday we did in fact put 8 of the 12 baskets up. They are playable and there are some makeshift signs to guide you through the 8 hole layout. Feel free to go play the course, and make sure to step on as many baby nettle sprouts as you can, they are already a foot tall in places!

Firefly Disc Golf completes 8 holes at Eco Park

Saturday February 25th marked the installation of 8 of the 12 baskets at Eco Disc Golf Park in Canby Oregon. The course is ready to be played with upcoming work parties focused on the completion of the remaining 4 holes and the eventual installation of tee pads, a kiosk and signage at the park. Feel free to head out and give this fun course a try!

Next Adventure Amateur Championship 2012

Firefly Disc Golf is proud to announce that the 2012 Next Adventure Amateur Championship has been added to the PDGA Supertour schedule. This makes the NAAC one of four events in the Pacific Northwest at that level. Planning is underway currently and more details will be available in March and registration will open in May.

New Course Approved for Canby, Oregon!

What: The City of Canby, Oregon has approved a 12 hole course for the north end of Eco Park. The course is designed with the intermediate player in mind, but will be playable by beginners, as well as being enjoyed by more advanced players. Nine of the twelve holes are fairly heavily wooded while the other three are in an open field. The terrain is predominantly flat, with a little bit of undulation to add some variety to the greens. The holes are mostly on the shorter side in the mid 200s with ... more

What:
The City of Canby, Oregon has approved a 12 hole course for the north end of Eco Park. The course is designed with the intermediate player in mind, but will be playable by beginners, as well as being enjoyed by more advanced players. Nine of the twelve holes are fairly heavily wooded while the other three are in an open field. The terrain is predominantly flat, with a little bit of undulation to add some variety to the greens. The holes are mostly on the shorter side in the mid 200s with a couple holes under 200 and a couple over 300.

When:
Construction on the course began in October and has mostly consisted of the removal of invasive Himalayan blackberry bushes and other unwanted underbrush. As of writing this, the fairways are approximately 60% cleared. I estimate there is about a month worth of clearing left before we can drop anchors in the ground. The anchors and baskets have already been purchased and are being stored in a warehouse until the course is ready. We should be able to put the baskets into the ground sometime in January, weather permitting.

After the baskets are in, we'll continue with the fine tuning of the fairway shaping as we will also play the course from the suggested tee pad locations. After a few weeks of playing from the suggested pads, we'll finalize the pad locations and begin work on the 12 pads. The pads will be stone-paver pads.

By spring, all the pads will be in, the fairways will be finished, we'll get all the signage done and have an official "Grand Opening".



I had a work party in the works, but was unable to make it happen due to some unforeseen circumstances. I would like to get another work party together for after the holidays when my schedule loosens up a bit. I'll keep everyone informed as things develop. Coincidentally, I can't put together an official work party for this weekend, but I am planning on heading out there to work on Saturday. I know Team Golf is going on, but if any non-TGers wanna come help out, that'd be rad. I'll be working on brush removal and clearing out some debris that are on the fairways. Let me know if you're interested and we can setup a schedule.

Disc Golf in Canby! Today!

Super last minute head's up. Tonight (Friday Sept 23rd) We're going to have a temporary Disc Golf course setup at the Canby New Life Foursquare church (you can google the location). The course should be up and playable by 5-5:30ish. At about 6 we're going to do an informal dubs event. If you're in or near Canby, come on over, all are welcome!

The DG is part of the Church's Men's Game/Fellowship night. Along with DG, there will be multiple gaming consoles, and a LAN party (Unreal Tournament) going on. Come for the golf, stay for the frags. See you there!

This tournament is a fund raiser for the Parks Foundation. Our goal is to raise $500 for future park improvements and new disc golf courses. Just under half of the $500 will come from the required donation, the other half will come from sponsors and Firefly Disc Golf. Because this is a fund raiser there will NOT be a payout for any players, just prizes.

Maximum of 48 players will be allowed to play in this event.

Registration closes at 7 p.m. Thursday night (8/25). Last minute registrations can be made online or in person at Next Adventure.

Next Adventure Amateur Championship Update: Thursday, August 19th

The disc orders for the NAAC are in! The Z Nukes are stunningly beautiful. Lots of blue and some rad purple/blue ones! Can't wait for everyone to see them. The artwork, provided by Doug Lloyd looks rad on the discs, and I know everyone's going to be super excited to have some for throwing as well as one for the wall! Innova was also kind enough to throw in 100 UV minis. We're going to throw these into the player's packs for the first 99 people registered (Steve wants one, hehe). Along ... more

Along with all the other stuff we'll be doing a free raffle for all players following the award ceremony. We want everyone to stick around, party with us, and cheer for the winners! Because of this the raffle is a "must be present to win" gig. So far the raffle is looking pretty sweet. We've got two FIRST RUN CHAMPION BOSSES, a couple first run Champ SLs, at least one Innova traveler basket, and lots of other stuff. Steve and I will probably even add some stuff from our own personal collections (maybe something with C.E. on the stamp?!)...SO STICK AROUND AFTER THE AWARDS :)

The 2010 Bad Monkey Open is in the books!

Special Congratulations to my teammate Joey Moro for taking down the title, and also to Cindy McMahon winning the Women's division...FLIGHT CREW!!!!...Steve and I sat down for a quick 10 minute debrief after dinner last night and we've decided that this year's BMO was the all-around best tournament that we've put on in terms of fun-factor and how smooth everything was. We're really jazzed and determined to continue to improve and help shape and define Amateur Disc Golf tournaments in the Portla ... more

That will keep you up-to-date on what we're doing with news feeds and such. Next on the schedule is the Next Adventure Amateur Championship. We'll have more details really soon, so keep an eye out, you won't want to miss that one!!!

Thanks to all the Volunteers this the weekend! Brian Elliott for being there the ENTIRE time helping with scoring and whatever else we needed. Chadwick and Cindy for their help with player registration and other odds and ends as needed. David Zimmerman for taking on the Stumptown BagTag duties.
