We should throw all the support we can at the pawtucket councel to get slater park moving on a course. I found a RI facebook page that hasn't been active for awhile, I'm sure we could get more people from it to help.

Hello Zombies! I'm new to RI (Providence) and looking to play some disc. I played weekly at Burgess Park when living on Cape Cod. It would be ideal to start a course in Lincoln Woods (I've never been to Chase Farm). Glad I found this group.

Was that for the day? I'd hope they don't try to charge that per round.
Guerilla Golf is playing using whatever's available for a course and targets. For instance, we'll head to Chase Farm (near Lincoln Woods) and run our own course through the park. One hole may have a tree as a target, the next might be a small bush, or a telephone pole. It's nice for when you don't have time to drive out to a course. Chase Farm and Lincoln Woods are great for it. Walking arou ...

They charged $12 on the weekday (thought it was going to be $10 but they said that was just for a regular visitor pass).
Yeah, those were my 5th and 6th rounds ever played, so I am very new at this, wish I had started playing 10 years ago when I ran into a guy playing disc golf in the snow at Buffum Dam while I was geocaching with my brother.
By the way, what exactly is guerilla golf?? I have a portable basket arriving in the mail tomorrow for practicing my putts in my back yard but am a ...

What are they charging now? I'm pretty new myself, (7 games in, 6 since march of this year) and I'm trying to play every nearby course at least once before starting the rotation again. Maybe I'll play Normandy next, especially if it's beginner-friendly.

Played a couple of rounds at Normandy Farms today. (+10 and +7)
Pros:
Close to my home
For what it is the course is nice
Saw one other group on my second round, but otherwise had the course to myself
Cons
Course is pretty short, average 200ft per hole. But nice practice for a newbie like me
A couple people do bike along paths/roads which make up quite a few of the fairways, though was not at all disruptive
Tee boxes are gravel and a bit uneven
At one point I tossed one behind a boulde ...

I started playing after North Smithfield was destroyed, so I never got to see it when it was an actual course. I haven't played Normandy Farms yet. Closest I came was once when I was camping there (and before I knew what disc golf actually was) I tried like the first hole with a frisbee, and lost it pretty quick. We tend to go to Borderland. It's a little further away, but cheaper and a great course.

Ha! Love the tagline! Yes, Rhode Island needs more courses for sure! I think the N. Smithfield course got eaten up by the new school? I haven't checked but that was what I was told. I'm actually contemplating paying $10 to play at Normandy Farms Campground since it is just up the road in Foxboro MA...but if it turns out to be a nice course I may talk to management about some other kind of pricing, a year pass or something.

Disc golf continues to grow exponentially but under the mainstream radar… This lifestyle sport has everything to do with landscape design, culture and leisure recreation for an increasingly urban world… Anyone interested in this subject should check out this 2013 MLA thesis from Cal Poly Pomona: Disc Golf Course Design: Inscribing Lifestyle into Underutilized Landscapes, for the short, cold months ahead:
