The grass at Riley Conference Center was cut today (prepped for bailing). I haven't been on the course to see if it's cut completely around yet, but I'm going to try and get tomorrow to check it out. I expect with the upcoming Daughtry concert, the grounds will get a manicure. Since the grass was done with a combine (or such), I expect the tee boxes are no longer unmarked, but I'm excited none the less to get a few more rounds in before the baskets are moved to Moon Lake..

My destroyer champion blizzard is very stable and i rarely turn it over. Ive never really used in windy conditions but that's mostly because I try to play safe in heavy wind. The blizz champion wears much fasterfor me. If u are used to throwing 170 g discs then I would suggest not going below 150 g. Good luck Jon

If you aren't satisfied with your distance already, then I would discourage grabbing a blizzard (if that is the only reason you want to try one).. They are fun to throw, and will likely go farther but I would say that anyone could benefit much more from a little field work with some slower, less forgiving discs. Learning to generate better weight transfer, clean release, good timing and mechanics will push your limits much further. With the right practice, you'll find yourself throwing 325+' con ... more

Alright, let me write a blizzard review while sober this time, and without sounding like a toolbag... Blizzard plastic is great if it's a wide open shot, or if you put so much hyzer on it that you know it's definitely not going to flip on you, which is what I tend to do with my blizzard ape. But even with the Ape, which is supposed to be the most stable blizzard disc on the market, it'll flip on me even with a >45 degree hyzer release. They're temperamental, and the wind affect them greatly. I d ... more

I'd say the blizzard ape has the same stability as a normal destroyer...or even a wraith. I've flipped mine a few times without it coming back. I've tossed mine about 550-600 a few times on some monster drives, but if you're looking for consistency, look elsewhere.

Blizzard:

Also keep in mind that the blizzard discs that weigh more than 140g, do not float.

Threw a 150 Blizzard wraith and was very surprised how far it went with little effort. Im thinking of getting one but perhaps something more overstable.

I like my blizzaed destroyer 153 g. I think they are worth trying.

It is not all hype,

In the right conditions they work well. You have to remember what you are throwing and not try to kill it. I have a couple that I keep in the bag. I'll let you throw them.

Personal/Equipment question for DFOK folks: a lot of you seem to have these newish, very lightweight Blizzard discs -- what do you think of them? I haven't thrown one yet, but I'm finally getting curious. I know they were kind of a novelty for a while, but now that you've played with them, do you think they are a good addition to your bag? Any thoughts on which one? I would probably want to go with something pretty stable, like a Destroyer or Wraith. I have a tendency to flip lighter discs. I know you have to throw them differently, but I haven't gotten the hang of it yet.

Hole #1 & hole #2 were pretty much designed together...

Hole #1 was kind of designed from the basket up. We knew where tee pad #2 needed to be, then we saw a good place for basket #1 & looked & looked & looked for a good tunnel to go up the hill.

Initially tee pad #1 was supposed to be much closer to the opening in the trees. However we kept pushing it back to get out of the path of the Parks & Rec. pick-ups & lawn mowing equipment.

I don't see how you look at those tangles of trees and see a golf course. Many thanks to our DFOK visionaries!

Happy Memorial Day to all. If you're playing today, grab a few that are Red White & Blue and let them fly!

Thanks Jon. I'm glad to see there are so many DFOK travel options this weekend. Please let me know how that Abilene course is holding up... I too am considering playing in that tourney next month.

Speaking of travel options, Ya gotta read at least part of the article below. WOW! I think he should be made an honorary DFOKer.

I definitely still want to go. It looks like the rain will hold off too, so it should be a good time.

I'm glad you guys got something planned that works for Rick. I would go but I have other plans on Sunday.

I would still like to head west to Thomas Park on Monday, and hitting Abilene on the way there or back. Mark, you expressed an interest, as did Austin. Are you guys still up for it? Anyone else want to make the trip?
