We'll have to see how the weather is going after the tournament: http://www.wibw.com/imageViewer?url=http://gray.ftp.clickability.com/wibwwebftp/extended.jpg&width=640&height=436&title=8%20Day%20Forecast
Might need to have players party another day?
Jon Tveite May 18, 2012 at 11:05am
I got myself signed up for the big tourney tomorrow. Looking forward....
The doubles round controversy is no big deal. I just thought I'd give Dakota a chance to practice his skills in rhetorical argumentation. I can't teach him much about disc golf, but I do know a lot about rhetoric.

With so many DG visitors in town this weekend, you're sure to hear the question "What is DFOK?". Don't sell us short by saying "It's the Manhattan disc golf club". Please remember that we a have a lot of members from a three county area (Geary, Riley & Pottawatomie), plus a few members from other parts of the state. Thus the name is meant to reflect that demographic. With that said though, please be sure to say that we're NOT trying to overrun the KDGA. That is not a goal, it's just that u ... more

With that said though, please be sure to say that we're NOT trying to overrun the KDGA. That is not a goal, it's just that using the name "Manhattan" would not have been representative of our actual club/league efforts.
I'll get off my coachy soap box & I look forward to seeing all of you at Tuttle.

anybody want to help set up the temp. DFOK tee signs between 4 & 5 Friday night?
Mark Kewley May 17, 2012 at 10:10pm
I'm not 100% I'll be camping after the tournament or have enough energy for this but I picked up enough glow sticks to light up 9 holes Saturday night.
Rick Petrie May 17, 2012 at 9:46pm
Zane, We are heart broken that you are no longer around here.
Keep up the good work down there in the peach state!
Rick Petrie May 17, 2012 at 7:22pm
Before this debate gets too intense, I should probably point out we're only looking at $4 for doubles + an optional $1 CTP. NOT $20 like DD was going to do.
Also keep mind this very same course hosts a Best Throw format on every single Tuesday night for many many months... but this Friday is NOT part of that league.

Hey, Beastie Boy: It's customary to give a reason if you're taking a position "strongly against" a proposal.
Dakota Beals May 17, 2012 at 6:40pm
Im strongly against the hole idea of alterating shots for dubs if there is going to be a dubs friday night just have regular dubs rules.
Rick Petrie May 17, 2012 at 10:16am
Jon, That's a cool idea & it might just lour me into playing... (but I plan to set out, unless we end up with odd number of players)
While we're on the topic of new twists for this one time doubles event... someone told me about a CTP twist that may lour even more people in. I'll let "him" provide the details though.
Jon Tveite May 17, 2012 at 10:01am
Here's a thought: how about we play doubles by alternating shots, straight up, instead of best shot? It would be more tournament-like pressure and less strain on the arm.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. If people don't like the idea, I'm fine with doing it the usual way, but it might be interesting to mix it up sometime.
Rick Petrie May 17, 2012 at 8:28am
I'll bring our DFOK club Scorepoint board & scorecards to help organize this thing (even if I don't play).
We'll be sure to do this Friday dubs up right!
Kevin Zane May 17, 2012 at 8:25am
Good luck at the Litte Apple Open DFOKers! I am heart-broken that I can't be there this year.
Mark Kewley May 16, 2012 at 10:41pm
Even though DD is not doing doubles Friday night, I know there are people that are going to be out there Friday night getting ready for the tournament. Some of you will want to practice in solitude, others will want the pressure of the competition. If it fits into your plan please meet me at the picnic table by hole 18 at 6:00. http://kansasdiscgolf.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4228

From the KDGA site:
"Dynamic Discs will not be having Flex Doubles on Friday afternoon. We will be around in the evening with the new RV and gear. Get signed up if you have not already done so and we will see you Saturday morning.
I'm going to be out there anyhow. Anyone interested in doing a BYOP or random doubles around 6:00? Or do you want to rest up for Saturday?
Jon Tveite May 15, 2012 at 1:37pm
I may be up for either option -- party afterwards and/or camping. Does anyone know how much it costs for a campsite?
Dimond Cutter May 15, 2012 at 11:22am
I have been thinking of camping on Saturday night too. BTW, cabins are all booked pretty much all summer.
Rick Petrie May 15, 2012 at 10:04am
I've always thought the shelter behind tee pad #11 or beside #14 look like good places to have a small DG cookout. Any other ideas on where to have this? (I'm assuming the cabins are already booked & who wants to be inside anyway?)
Also, we'll want to makes sure people know it's nothing official or tied to the tournament. In otherwords, bring your own food & drink.
We wouldn't want to create any confusion or misconceptions. :-)
