I used the Schedule a Round on the main page to make a group for the work day on August 3rd. I thought we could get a virtual head count.

Good plan Mark. I'll go "RSVP".

Rick Petrie   July 27, 2013 at 8:41pm

Yep there it is --> http://www.discgolfscene.com The more the merrier... and the quicker we can play the New & Improved Fairmont Park DG Course!

Rick Petrie    July 25, 2013 at 8:38am

For those of you who do not follow the "News" tab from Disc Fanatics of Kansas you might want to read tonight's posting about Fairmont Park. ( http://www.discgolfscene.com/clubs/Disc_Fanatics_of_Kansas/news )

We are one step closer!

Also, please consider finding time in your schedule for Tomorrow evening (6:30p) and/or Saturday morning (9:00a) to finalize pin placements. Then again Aug. 3rd & 4th to help with the big workdays.

Thanks,
Rick

In other words, nearly all of the placements should be going pretty much right where the current wood lath is located. However some will need to be fine tuned for their final location.

Rick Petrie   July 25, 2013 at 6:16pm

Rain or shine tonight is still on. (it's not like we're trying to play a round of golf or even throw discs... it's just a little design work. Hope to see y'll there.

Rick Petrie   July 26, 2013 at 8:21am

Thanks to everyone whomade it to Fairmont last night. Be sure to consider attending Saturday morning (starting at 9:00am) to get the exact spots forfinalized for construction.

Robert Adams    July 23, 2013 at 7:16pm

Myself and Austin are heading down to Emporia tomorrow to play Jones East, West, and Peter Pan with some lunch in between somewhere. I have two more spots in my truck, three if you don't mind a tough squeeze. If anyone's interested in going give me a call or text @ 337-378-7262. Should be a good day for disc!

Mitchell Brenn grabbed a spot, only 1 left! 2 if you wanna ride knee to knee, haha.

Robert Adams   July 23, 2013 at 12:21pm

Meeting at 10:00 in the Best Buy Parkin lot, btw.

William Mitchell   July 23, 2013 at 10:26pm

Hey that's where I work! I would totally join but I'll be working til about noon.

Rick Petrie    July 23, 2013 at 5:48am

I stopped by Fairmont Park after work today (which happens more often than not now) to check for progress.
More specifically, today I wanted to see if any of the underground utilities have been marked. Bad news: They are not.

Result: By them not being marked by now, it is becoming less & less likely the holes will get dug (drilled by bobcat) in time for a big workday this coming weekend (to install ground sleeves).

The final decision probably won't be made until Wednesday or Thursday, so I'll just have to keep you posted (here).

Grant Wisdom
Austin Cranston
John Hindle

Also in attendance was
Adam Johnson
Vinnie Johnson

It was decided we should play as one large group in order to fully enjoy the experience. The first round was a straight up ro ... more

fairmount

Jacob Strait    July 21, 2013 at 7:41pm

Anyone up for Tuttle today?

Mark Kewley   July 21, 2013 at 11:57am

There is a round scheduled for 2:00 at Fairmont. It might be the last organized round there on the old layout.

Jacob Strait   July 21, 2013 at 12:05pm

Sounds good

William Mitchell    July 21, 2013 at 7:13am

Anyone going to Little River, KS for they're relief tournament?

William Mitchell   July 20, 2013 at 11:29pm

sorry meant "their" not "they're"

Josh Carroll   July 20, 2013 at 11:30pm

I'll be there! Coming up from hometown Hutchinson with some of the local guys. It'd be great to see some Manhattan folk there, if only to check out this gem of a course! If you can't make it tomorrow, be sure to keep the weekend of August 17-18th open. Hutchinson's Salt City Open on Saturday and Little River's Redskin Rendezvous on Sunday, both KDGA Oz Tour events.

Rick Petrie    July 21, 2013 at 4:19am

So, I managed to FRY my phone today. What a pain in the neck!

Rick Petrie   July 20, 2013 at 8:26pm

In other words, don't bother calling or texting me until you hear otherwise. (at least I've still got my home computer)

Rick Petrie   July 21, 2013 at 9:02am

I actually "fixed" my phone! I watched some YouTube videos then tore into it! I had nothing to lose & thought "why not?"

Mark Kewley   July 21, 2013 at 11:59am

MacGyver

Jon Tveite    July 19, 2013 at 8:13pm

There has been some interest expressed in playing the original Fairmont layout as a group before the course redesign becomes permanent. Holes that will be completely going away: #2, #4, #6, #9. Holes that will be substantially changed: #3, #5.

How about sometime on Sunday? My preference would be late morning or early afternoon. Any thoughts? If I don't get any feedback by this evening I will just pick a time and post it here.

I'm going to play at 2:00. Be there or be square, as some used to say.

Mark Kewley   July 21, 2013 at 10:27am

I'll be there a little early to test drive a few discs.

Kevin Clouse   July 21, 2013 at 11:02am

Alan Fox    July 19, 2013 at 5:13am

Ross Jones and John Heley took 4th with -4

Scott Collins and Billy Mitchell took 3rd with -5

Most people have a few discs that they want to trade. I think it would be cool to have a monthly "League" where we play this format.

Mitchell Brenn   July 19, 2013 at 9:26pm

I liked this format a lot. I always have a few decent discs just not being used and this was a great way to "play and trade." Also I liked that everyone got something at the end, even if you got last place.

Jacob Strait   July 21, 2013 at 11:40am

We are such studs Mark!

Mark Kewley    July 18, 2013 at 6:57am

FYI: I will be in Westmoreland on Friday afternoon if anyone wants to meet at the park for a round.

Never been there. What's it like?

Mark Kewley   July 18, 2013 at 4:38pm

Small town park. Very short holes. Kind of Fun.

Mark Kewley   July 19, 2013 at 2:35pm

I'm headed there to take care of vehicle registration. I should be in the park in around an hour.

Rick Petrie    July 16, 2013 at 6:58am

Anybody else hear that? It's the sound of our new Innova disc golf equipment making their way from the South Carolina plant.

Later tonight I'll post official DFOK News outlining or upcoming work days, plus a DFOK Meeting set for Wednesday night.

I wish they posted all of the scores, rather than just the top three places. But considering all the scores for all the sports involved in the SSG, I can't blame them.

Ben Nispel   July 16, 2013 at 11:29am

Yeah, that would be nice. Did you ever hear how many total participants this event pulled in?

Rick Petrie   July 16, 2013 at 7:25pm

There were 80 total players on the Saturday doubles day. I did not hear the total from Sunday's singles event. I'm guessing there was 60 or so Sunday.

Has anybody played at holton how is the course?

Not me, but I'm very curious. It would be a place for me to play when I go that way to visit family. It would be great to get a review from you so I know what it's like. :-)

Jacob Strait    July 12, 2013 at 3:10am

Anyone playing at Tuttle tonight?
