Is anybody interested or wanting to join me Saturday for a meet and greet with Rick up at the camp? Take a walk around the area he's looking at and give suggestion/ideas from our viewpoints for them to consider Let me know and we can carpool it maybe.

Just got message from Rick Saffeels sayin he would be on site at the camp this Saturday from 7am -4:30 pm for a work party up there anyway. If some of us would like to take a trip up during day with some baskets he'd be happy to meet with us and show us around. I should be able to make time if others interested in running up there to check things out with him. Be nice to see what is available to work with and new course opportunities are always worth looking at.

Sounds as though we need to schedule little safari doubles tourny out there. I have a basket. I'm sure we could round up enough t play the whole course. You know everyone wants to play something the hasn't been played :)

Great! Wow that was a quick response! I am very flexible for people coming out and checking out the camp and the course area. My email is [email redacted] and my cell is 503-508-3113 (and my social security number is ...haha) If anyone would like to check it out, feel free to come out! We also have a shooting range so you don't have to go to eastern Oregon to shoot your .44 or what not :) Thanks again,

Rick Saffeels

Rick, I have been with group about three years now and was responsible for the course and tee signage done at Woodmansee Park in Salem. I also have GPS, range finder and 330' tape that can be used for distance and layout work. I would be happy to get involved in your new quest towards a disc golf course. I also have a folding temp basket that would be easy to bring up while looking at possible hole layouts. I think if we could arrange for a few of us to come and look over property with you a ... more

Hi! My name is Rick Saffeels and I am the new Program Director at Canyonview Camp in Silverton, OR (17 minutes from Salem, 15 from Keizer). We have been interested in building a disc golf course on our 83+ acre camp. I have gone out and played a couple mock holes to see just about how many holes we could house and I found about 13 without having to do any work what so ever and 5 that would have to be through wooded areas. If there is anyone that would like to see if our grounds are worth invest ... more

Few more hours working on the course again today. More cleaning around basket locations and walkout trails. Also some more cleaning on yellow basket top rings. I must have missed the backsides of a couple of them last time I did them. I'd fire myself but the pay is so good as a volunteer. The main thing still needed is moving as much of that barkdust pile till it's gone to areas needed. Needed areas are around tee pads, trails, and even a small circles worth around bottom baskets be ni ... more

Just a little thought to put out from my activities in other groups, some much larger then this one, that applies to all groups. Do you Just Belong? Are you an active member, the kind that would be missed? Or are you just content, that your name is on the list? Do you attend the meetings, and mingle with the flock? Or do you meet in private, and criticize and knock? Do you take an active part to help the work along? Or are you satisfied to be the kind who just belongs? Do ... more

Monday February 20th, presidents day, we are going to whistlers bend for a day of disc golf. So far I have four going with me and I know more that would like to go. So if anyone is interested in going and willing to drive, please say something. We plan to leave Salem at 6am for the long drive. This is also Steve's birthday, so come on down and beat his ass in a totally non-gay way. This is a full day of disc golf so plan on being home in the evening possibly late, but it is well worth it. In my opinion this is one of if not the best course in Oregon.
