winter tournaments

So for those of you who may not be aware or don't know the details. A3 has been running a winter series of tournaments. 8 events at 8 different courses. event 5 at willow was yesterday. Event 6 is at cass on the 27th, Event 7 is at Kensington and the final event at Hudson mills. The Corrigan Propane Winter Warmer Series has 8 events with a final 9 for the top 4 players in every division. CTP's at every tournament. We have been paying 130% to AM's and adding some cash for the PRO's as well ... more

So for those of you who may not be aware or don't know the details. A3 has been running a winter series of tournaments.
8 events at 8 different courses. event 5 at willow was yesterday. Event 6 is at cass on the 27th, Event 7 is at Kensington and the final event at Hudson mills.
The Corrigan Propane Winter Warmer Series has 8 events with a final 9 for the top 4 players in every division. CTP's at every tournament. We have been paying 130% to AM's and adding some cash for the PRO's as well. Each event is $25, the AM’s get a player pack, optional $1 ace pool which if no aces are hit carries to the next event and there have not been any aces so far. You must buy into the series to get into the finals and you must play in a minimum of 3 events to qualify for the finals. Buy in is 2 new or slightly used discs Z or Champion plastic or better, no grooves; discs are accepted at the TD’s discretion, discs cannot be written on, or $18 and we will put 2 discs in for you.
The most important thing to be aware of is that the finals at Hudson mills the players who make the final 9 will share in $600 in cash or merchandise which came from the sponsors money, corrigan propane. the AM1, AM2, PRO, Am Master divisions are very lightly attended and leave open the possibilitys that a person could play in the final 3 events and still get into the final 9. AM3 and AM4 are both busy with 6 or so players in the series.
the cash or merch will be divided by number of players in the series in each division. You must attend the finals to get a share of the payouts points only help you get a spot in the finals.
7 Pro’s with the maximum pts of 12
6 AM1’s with the maximum pts of 11
1 AM2 with pts of 12
10 AM3’s with the maximum pts of 48
6 AM4’s with the maximum pts of 35.5
1 AM Master with 4 pts

We have been approved to use battery operated sawzalls. And weed whips.
We will be spending our time working on cleaning the fairways of clutter.
1,2,3 are done or almost done we will be going to 5,7,9 next.

This Wednesday is summer solstice the 20th of June. I also forgot to mention the DOUBLE POINTS IN THE DGLA MICPS since this is also your league round. Anybody not just current A3disc league members can receive the double points at this event. Brighton Recreation Disc Golf Course next work day

Will be Sunday April 29th starting about noon till 4.
Eirich kauserud will be leading this work day.

Please bring clippers, bush trimmers must be manual. No power tools are allowed. We can use battery operated sawzalls with supervision by eirich!
We need shovels and rakes brought as well. We will be working on leveling and clearing hole 1 and 2 as time and workers permit.

Sunday the 15th work day has been cancelled by the park! People or persons are cutting trees down without approval.

To be resumed once we work out who and how to prevent this.
Maples and Oak are not to be touched.
olives undergrowth, thorn and pickers may be cleared but not trees!

Next work day is scheduled for this coming sunday the 15th starting at 10AM till 4PM or so. we will be working on bringing the piled brush out to the fairways for the brush hog to destroy and if time still permits we may work on clearing more roughage. bring hand clippers, tree lopers and such. We really need help to make this course open on schedule, ground workers are needed please respond to me if you can or have an interest. the front 9 fairways are cut via manual labor and brush hogging so far. The heavy underbrush needs to be cleared away from the fairways to make the horrible rough not jail on every hole. the bank 15 is planned but no work will start over there until the front 9 is at fully playable level. this will be a 30 hole course with 6 short handicap accessible holes ... more

Brighton Recreation Area! we have been given 200 acres a lot of which is in lakes but more then enough for a 24 hole course. We have been approved at the moment to use hand tools and they will be bringing the brush hog and/or bulldozer for the heavy clearing.

We will probably be approved to use power tools but not as of this moment.



We are really looking for a really good size crew to help make a good impression at the park.



The park is looking for at least 9 holes to be playable by June 1st but if we can get enough workers we will get all 24 + holes ready to play by June 1st. There will actually be 30 holes in total plus a practice basket as well. They have to supply a certain % of holes to be handicap accessable so they are planning 6 extra short holes for that purpose.

A3DISC will be holding these six tournaments as fundraisers to add cash to the purse of the 2010 Discraft Great Lakes Open. Each event will cost $20 to enter, $5 of which will be added to the DGLO's purse. Additionally, for a one time, optional $10 fee, players will be entered into the DGLO Championship Series. Players will accumulate points at each event they play; each player's four best point totals will be used in order to determine overall series standings. The four players with the most cumulative points in each division after the final event at Lakeshore will play 9 safari holes. The winners will be crowned 2010 Ann Arbor Area Disc Golf Champions! We will be offering a few unique changes to the payout format in this series. Advanced players will be playing for cash; however, any player with a rating over 955 must play Pro. All other amateur divisions will be offered two payout options. Players who cash at each event can either choose plastic from a selection offered by A3 or may opt to receive a gift certificate of equivalent value to The Throw Shop at Lakeshore instead. Certificates can be used at any time or may be saved up until the finals at Lakeshore in July and used to purchase something really cool from The Throw Shop then. Thank you to everyone for coming out and helping us to make the 2010 Great Lakes Open an event to remember!
