Fur Rondy Disc Golf Classic-- The event has been created. Due to the short notice on the event request, this will be a simple as possible event. I can not stress enough how important this event is for the ADGA. We have the potential to create a solid working relationship with Fur Rondy to develop an annual DG classic winter event. This tournament is set up to introduce the sport of disc golf to the Anchorage community and others visiting the festival from out of state. Furthermore, it is an opp ... more

Despite my previous post, I suggest only loaning discs that you do not mind losing....for example, I have several X Out Aviars that I used for practice that I will put in to the loaner pile. Looking for putters, mids, and fairway drivers. Will have a better idea of how many we will need toward the end of the week.

Jeremy Boyd   February 25, 2014 at 10:39am

Mike Miles brought up something I think would be a good idea. If you are bringing discs to loan or donate it would be ideal for your partner to be the recipient. That would allow us to help keep an eye on our plastic. I would imagine 3 discs per new player would be sufficient. I will be bringing ... more

Tay Harling    February 19, 2014 at 2:41am

Hey everyone! So I have been talking to the owner /my boss at Play it Again Sports about disc golf. He wants to help out more and find out what we as disc golfers want to see come through the store. I have noticed that their selection of discs isn’t always the best to select from. They want to know what kind of plastic and disc golf equipment that we want to see come through the doors and how we can grow the sport here in Alaska. Please let me know what you would like to see come through ... more

Anyone else want in on this 2014 ace competition me and Tay have going on? $10 from each person goes to the winner at the end of the 2014. Certain holes will not count (6 at alcantra, 2 at APU, probably a couple others.)

Hey guys. To all of you who don't have me on Facebook- I was out at Kenai Eagle today and heard someone calling for help a few holes ahead- long story short I found Jonny Wilson laying by a tee pad with a his foot pointing a really bad direction. I field splinted him and we tried to get him to the car but he was in too much pain. It took 4 medics and 2 cops to get him over the nasty icy uneven terrain and to the ambulance. The medics didn't make a diagnosis in the field but it looked ... more

We have some amazing events lined up for this year already and some great things are in the works. Thanks to all as well for showing up at the board meeting the other night and taking the time out of their day to attend and participate. The adga should remain serving the interests of the anchorage area. If you'd like to Change it, run for office and propose a by-law change. Remember that it will have to be approved by a 2/3s majority vote by current members in attendance. There is no reason a statewide organization can't be organized/established. As a two year member of the adga I will not be quiet and walk away from the capital the anchorage area has contributed. If you do not want to honor the by laws or have belief ... more

Topics to think about/discuss.

1. Should Kincaid DG course be a pay to play?

Between $2-$5 for a day pass.
Season pass option?
_pro's & con's

2. Discussing the possibility of a 2nd 18 hole course at Kincaid with the parks department.
_maybe starting near the front gate parking lot.
_what is in the parks master plan? Is this a possibility, is there enough use age to warrant a 2nd course.
Anyone have any knowledge on this topic?

I was at the wcl closure meeting and the homeowners that showed up love us and the course. It was a bum camp before disc golf

josh stewart   December 26, 2013 at 6:24pm

The only people that judge us are uninformed. It's the fact that everyone wants to read about problems rather than the good we do. Tragedy sells copies and gets ratings

WILL HARRISON   January 4, 2014 at 4:22am

There alot of good points being made in this thread!

Saturday leagues have been sanctioned with the PDGA for the months of January and February. The league will alternate between PC and the Goon. I only signed up for a 2 month period as a trial to see if we like this idea. If you have any questions on PDGA leagues please visit the following site. Click on the link under FAQ after reading the introduction. Handicapped leagues....... at PC we will be keeping the same with a running average handicap. At the Goon w ... more

Article III Meetings Section 3 states "Special meetings may be called if ten days notice is posted to the current membership. Postings to take place on course bulletin boards at each course that is under club supervision and/or via email or web sit." This was certainly not done since Brian posted the night before the meeting that there would be one. Considering Brian is not even on the board and is certainly not the Secretary (the Secretary is the one who posts the times for meeting ... more

I think it's obvious that is not what I was trying to say considering I spent my time volunteering out at pc as well. I'm saying that as far as I know the only league that contributes a portion of each buy in to the ADGA is anchorage leagues. I could be wrong but I think that part of the r ... more
