There will not be an ADGA club meeting tonight as originally planned. The officers mtg originally scheduled during the last club meeting for 2/11 was cancelled due to a Hilltop meeting. Unfortunately, officers have not been able to come together since then due to many factors. Look out for the March meeting to be rescheduled, where you'll also be advised to a regular meeting place. There will still be a March club meeting, and when things are aligned, meetings will proceed as the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm.

I know a few of you guys have asked me the past few months if we had any more of the MSDGA hoodies etc and I had to say no because those were only ordered on a pre-pay basis. So here is your chance to get one, Were going to be taking pre-paid orders again for the hoodies/shirts/etc again this week. Typically these take a month plus to get after placing the order so if you order now you can have them before spring time.

Saturday League will be at Peter's Creek tomorrow at 10 AM. Brian has sanctioned another two months with the PDGA, look for a new league page for March-April soon. See everyone out there!

Huge thanks to everyone who made it out tonight. I'm also really glad that you could check out the new hole 1. It's got me thinking... Maybe we'll debut one new hole a week in the form of a CTP shootout for a prize? By now you have probably noticed that I really don't mind putting up a little something every now and then as a prize so look forward to some swag in the future on some brand new holes! And I might sweeten the pot and put a little cash bounty on the first ever ace on any given hole on the front 11...

Fur Rondy Disc Golf Classic--

Fur Rondy Disc Golf Classic--
The event has been created. Due to the short notice on the event request, this will be a simple as possible event. I can not stress enough how important this event is for the ADGA. We have the potential to create a solid working relationship with Fur Rondy to develop an annual DG classic winter event. This tournament is set up to introduce the sport of disc golf to the Anchorage community and others visiting the festival from out of state. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for us to introduce the ADGA to our community and why we love the sport so much. For this event we will be ambassadors to the sport. We are holding this event for others to learn how to play the game, properly. We may even be able to get a some new ADGA members.

The tourney will be a draw doubles pairing new entrants with veteran members. I have limited the registration total to 54 so that means 27 slots available for our members. We will need loaner discs for those who do not have one. A list will be made of who borrows whose disc.

Important note:
The Tour of Anchorage is being held on the same day. It is the final race day for the"National Masters 2014 distance freestyle championship race" so we need to reroute parts of the course for safety. We will need help getting new holes set up. We will be playing on the west lagoon. Huhooooooo!

Prep projects I am looking for volunteers for:
-Since we are getting warm weather later this week, I would like to snow shoes the tee, fairway, and basket areas to be placed on the lagoon.
-It would be nice to have a hot pot of chili, stew, soup or hot food of some sort at the end of the tournament. Any takers?
-We will be getting Fur Rondy prizes. However, it would be nice to get a few gift certificates from stores and restaurants around town. Remember we have a state non-profit number to give to donors for tax right off. Ideally would like to be able to give a prize to all the new entrants.

Tournie day:
-Basket set up
-Throwing and Putting clinic instructors
-Games?
-Block off both ends of user trail along hole 7
-Event video- looking for a volunteer to take video footage of the tournament for archives and future publicity.

Post tournie:
-Remove temp baskets
-Temp trail fence
-Clean up

Last note: I want to reiterate what I asked at the Food Bank tournament.... if you bring any adult beverages put them in personal containers. The ADGA Nalgeen bottle is a great choice. Keep in mind, we will not be the only community members using the park that day. Who knows how many race watchers will be along the trails. Plus, we all know how course usage has been scrutinized in the past.

Let's go out and have a fun day of disc golf and share this sport we love so much. Many hands make light work! After the event, we can play a money round dubs before the temp holes get removed. Maybe some prizes will be left over or I will throw in some extra cash prize.

They want to know what kind of plastic and disc golf equipment that we want to see come through the doors and how we can grow the sport here in Alaska. Hey guys. To all of you who don't have me on Facebook- I was out at Kenai Eagle today and heard someone calling for help a few holes ahead- long story short I found Jonny Wilson laying by a tee pad with a his foot pointing a really bad direction. I field splinted him and we tried to get him to the car but he was in too much pain. It took 4 medics and 2 cops to get him over the nasty icy uneven terrain and to the ambulance. The medics didn't make a diagnosis in the field but it looked ... more

The medics didn't make a diagnosis in the field but it looked like he might have broken both of the bones in his lower leg or shattered his ankle.
