The Spring Tournament is a success!
Although construction projects and high water levels threatened to deem the course somewhat unplayable, some great people came together and made things happen. A slight chill in the air welcomed the players to the practice area early on tournament day. Soon enough, everyone was shedding layers as the sun started to heat things up. A decent showing of 24 golfers grouped up and got ready to hike out to their starting positions. It was quite a tight race after the first round of play, leaving most players optimistic about their afternoon chances.
With two extra holes playing really long and the pond filled to the brim, several players came up short. Many players took aim and came extremely close to pocketing the ace pool, Chris Thomas hit the bucket and Mike Gomez screamed just past on #16! However, Congratulations to Nick Usher on his first ace, and a victory in the Recreational division as well, nice work! Bill Mastre and Todd Krauss headed for a sudden-death playoff where Todd remained unbeaten vs. Bill. Chris Thomas nearly doubled-up the advanced division with a minus 17 on the scoreboard, nice shooting Chris.
All in all, everyone sent in great reviews on the days action. Thank you to all who played a role in and/or attended the event. Next up is the Summer League Player's Tournament...
Great weather, Great tournament!!
Congratulations to Eric Lind, who won 3 Rivers Disc Golf Club's first annual Summer League Tournament. He looked like a man on a mission shooting the course record and his personal best on the same day! This year's tournament was held at the River Ranch Disc Golf Course and the weather could not have been better. Hopefully mother nature will cooperate just as well next year. With plenty of good spirited competition to go around, I'm confident this event will be a club favorite for years to come. Thanks to all who participated.
